2021 Explorer ST
« on: March 18, 2021, 10:20:08 AM »
We decided it was time to trade in the Wife's 2015 X5 and get a new 2021 Explorer ST. My cousin is the Sales Manager at a Ford dealer, so we milked him for everything we could and came away with a decent deal. There was nothing owing on the X5, so we decided to trade in and knock down the cost on the ST, instead of selling privately. I really didn't want to deal with selling privately TBH.

There isn't really a lot that will be done to this thing, however I've put together a little bit of a plan. We spent about 2g's less on it than we planned, so I'm just rolling that into add-ons for it.

I made a small detailing supply order
- Poor Boy's Ceramic Coat
- Poor Boy's Trim Coat
- Bunch of Pads
- New interior detailing Brush set
- MF's

The plan is to remove the "EXPLORER" badge on the hood, prep and coat the paint and trim. Then it goes to the shop for Expel Plus Extreme PPF and Ceramic window tint on the front windows. It came from the dealer with "no prep", so the paint is nice and un-molested.

From a "Parts order" standpoint, I have a few things coming.
- Black Lug nuts
- Custom Ford Badges
- 3rd row Weathertech matt
- Cargo Area Weathertech Matt
- LED Rear Turn Signal and Reverse bulbs

From a programming standpoint, I'll be making a bunch of changes with ForScan
- Double honk when you exit with key and it's running - Disable
- Fake Engine noise through speakers - Disable
- Hyperflash rear turn signals - Disable
- "Back seat check" nanny - Disable
- Add some features to the digital gauges from the Platinum
- Bambi Mode
- Anything else I can find that looks good to do

Long term plans in "discussion" with the Wife
- Summer Tires and wheels
- Lower Springs
- Exhaust

It may get a tune later in life. I have a new tuner coming that can tune multiple vehicles and my calibrator will give me a tune for it for free. We'll see as I don't want a warranty issue with all the Ford "big brother" nannies that it has. It's quick as it is, so not sure.

I know we got a teaser picture in the other thread but come on?  Nothing?  No pictures at all in the first post of a new vehicle thread?  You’re probably the kind of guy that doesn’t dress his wheel wells...

Any recommendation on prep/treatment for the interior bits while it's still new?

Damn.  That’s filthy.  You should be ashamed of posting a picture like that.

Hell, it’s cleaner than my truck.  Sort of.  I assume right now Atleast half of my truck is clean.

Use that PB Trim Coat.  See what happens.  Haha. Be a guinea pig.  It’s the wife’s ride, right?

Black lug nuts arrived and made the ForScan changes I could. Need to find a way to shut off the fake engine noise, it drives me nuts fir some reason.

Thanks to Mike, I called the painter and am changing up the FORD badges. The parts that are Chrome OEM, will be gloss Black to match the grill. The parts that blue OEM, will be Atlas Blue to match the paint. A little less Black now, just a little.

No no.  I don’t want credit for that.  I’m with it, but I want to reserve my credit for when you’re on you’re fourth set of wheels and your third performance upgrade.  Haha

Auto geek couldn’t ship the PoorBoys coatings across the boarder by air, so I had to find another way.

Found someone north of the boarder that stocks them. Ordered up.

Were you trying to expedite it that it had to go by air?

Apparently they didn’t have a ground shipping option to Canada.

It’s funny though, I just found out that where I ordered from, get their stuff from AutoGeek. It’s just that they order enough to have it sent up via freight.

I’m honestly not sure. Eshine.ca gave me a good price and free shipping, so just went with them.
