2017 Mazda 6
« on: April 20, 2020, 06:00:12 PM »
Today’s Mazda 6 detail was a little different that the ones I did and shared the last few weeks. First of all, it was significantly (and thankfully) smaller. Second, it was metallic black – and you guys all know how much I love black. (Not) Finally, it wasn’t covered from head to toe with iron contamination. In fact, about 15 minutes with good old-fashioned clay knocked what little surface contamination there was clean off. This was an exterior only detail so don’t expect any interior shots.

Here’s what it looked like when it rolled into my driveway first thing in the chilly morning. The Rochester winter wasn’t terribly kind to it and the fact that all local car washes have been closed for over a month now didn’t help matters. Yes, it needed help, but I knew the Mazda paint hiding underneath everything should be worth the work and wait.

After about 5 hours of hard work, here’s what rolled out of the garage. I think you’ll agree it looked a lot better. And no, I didn't repaint the car from grey to black - even though it looks like it.

That hood shot!  Makes it all worth it!

Wow, that is a huge transformation.

I cringed with the door shot ( 3rd picture ) .

Enlarged the 2nd picture, and it looked like brushed stainless  :wow:

They had to pull the driveway and ask where their car was, as it was totally changed.

I’m not sure how you pulled that off in 5 hours, but looks like a massive improvement!

I feel pretty lazy, My SIL brought her car over for the bi-annual tire swap and the most I could muster was a wash and a vacuum, lol.
