Mike just needs to take it to one of those auto-wash thingys, I hear the ones with the rotating brushes work best to get everything off! Sometimes they do too good of a job and take an antenna or paint in the process  :uugly:

I have not seen one take off an antenna in decades; but point taken.

Still happens...

But I gotta say, it has to be rare.

The only thing I am waiting on is to get all the gaskets, studs, bolts, nuts, etc. They are sitting at the dealer waiting for my final word. I still have to confirm a couple of pieces.

Then it will just be deciding when I can actually get time set aside to swap them out. I'm guessing it won't be for a couple of months yet. I will need pretty much a whole weekend.

Depending how things go, I may do the intercooler at the same time. They are pretty pricey though, so we'll see what happens.

Started the spring detail on the truck. I'll have to post some proof, but all progress was halted by a nasty stomach flu yesterday.

Passenger side done with Dodo Juice Iron remover, Clay mitt, M101, M205, Wet Reflections past wax. Need to do the same on the drivers side. Then hood, roof, tailgate and bumpers will be hit with Opti-Coat 2.0 instead of Wax as a LSP.

Feeling a little better, so I'm going to head out and just put a coat of wax on the drivers side so it's protected will next weekend (hopefully less time will be spend re-claying).

Thanks Justin!

Made a bit more progress today, got the drivers side knocked out.

Quick waterless wash and check to see if I needed to re-clay anything, it was clean, so I just went at it.

M101 on an orange LCC Pad, then a quick switch back to a Meg's MF pad as it was cutting faster and leaving a better finish IMO. M205 on a white LCC pad. I made the decision to go ahead and try out the C.A.R. Bulletproof Coating I picked up from Justin a while back. I ended up doing three coats. Prepped with a Iso wipe-down before-hand.

It is REALLY EASY to apply compared to Opti Coat 2.0. Much longer working time and you can layer it. The true test will be in seeing how this BP coating holds up. I will be doing the hood, roof and tailgate with Opti-Coat 2.0 so I can directly compare.

Photobucket appears to be down currently, so no proof yet...

Man, where do you find the time?  Truck is looking good.  My truck is starting to develop interior rattles are driving me insane and I just can't get to them.

I'm patiently waiting for the performance upgrades.  It's not even my truck... Haha

It's why I'm doing it piece meal, just can't set aside a whole day to detail these days.

Funny you should say that, my brother was complaining when I was talking to him yesterday about the same thing. Rattles drive him nuts (he is certainly on the OCD spectrum). IIRC, his Duramax is a 2012.

No, please no. I have a feeling that I will have enough "help" on my hands when he gets a bit older. He was already trying to use a MF to "buff" the paint.

I didn't want to take the truck out in the rain today, but a friend was in a bind and needed help moving some stuff. Hope the Coating had enough time to cure.
