Xterra project
« on: July 09, 2014, 08:38:13 PM »
Did a little fixing up of my daughters Xterra. Nothing too crazy.

Before

Badly faded

A little run in with a pole

Hazy headlights

Polished the paint and removed the pinstripe.

Headlights polished

Hard to get good shots of yellow

Painted wiper cowl

Tore down the front end. Surprisingly easy.

New front end plastics and brush guard.

New rear plastics, tail light guards and painted bumper. Painted side steps too.

New wheels

When it's time for new tires, I'm gonna add an inch or so of lift and slightly larger tires. It turned out pretty good. It's an '06 with 80k miles.

Looks like it came out really nice Harold!

Did you ever try to bring back the plastic or just figured swapping the parts was best?

Are you taking applications for additional kids? If so, send me one. I need somebody to take care of my stuff like that - instead of me.

Nice work Harold - as usual!

Thanks guys. Since the one corner needed to be completely replaced, I felt like the rest of the plastic would never quite match. We bought this truck new in '06 while I was in Arkansas and she was in South Carolina, so for about 6 years the plastics were pretty neglected. Part of owning one of these and keeping it looking good is caring for the plastic which is everywhere. Gotta stay on top of it from day one.
