Reintro

Whats up every one. Ive actually been a member for a while, but havent logged in, in quite some time.

I recently got a new vehicle so I decided it was time to get back into the detailing game. I didnt see the use in spending so much time on my 14 yr old F150 lol. It was a lost cause.

Anyways, I recently purchased an '06 4Runner. Its Natural White, with the Taupe leather interior.

Its obviously used, but in amazing shape. Its only got 73k miles. Overall its in great shape, but there are a few staines/spots that need to be taken care of.

As far as the paint goes, there isnt really any swirling that I can see. It hasnt been detailed by the dealership yet because the weather was bad the day I picked it up. They plan on doing a full detail as well as some paint touch ups.

I went ahead and did the interior yesterday as the coffee spill in the back seat was driving me nuts. And i figured I could probably do a better job on the inside than they could.

So what all have I missed since I left?
Where is a good place to start replenishing my supplies?

Not knowing where things were at when you took the hiatus....

Wipe on Walk away sealant.  OptiSeal is a very nice product.  I have used it on a few vehicles with good luck.  I am going to polish it off the front clip of my F150 and put on Menz Power lock sealant and do a follow up polish of the OptiSeal that is on the doors to get a side by side on the two products.

Paint coatings.  I have done a few OptiCoat 2.0 applications.  My F150 has the roof of the cab, the cap, tailgate and the lower panels in OptiCoat 2.0.  Great product, only needs a QD ratio of Optimum No rinse to bring the shine back ( it is suggested not to apply a LSP on it, changes the non stick characteristics )

MF pads:  Don't know if these were out last time you were on the site.  Great product that really gives a DA a kick in the pants for correction ability.

Not knowing where things were at, I am just giving what I have learned since joining this site a few short months back.  This all might all be old hat to you.

Technically Jersey Village now, but I work in cypress.

As far as a machine goes, I don't have anything that I'd feel comfortable touching my paint with lol. I've got a craftsman 2 speed buffer.

If you want a nice machine that doesn't cost a ton, does a decent job and virtually cannot do any damage, consider the Porter-Cable 7424XP. It's one awesome machine.

Stay away from a full rotary - if that's what the Craftsman machine is. That would be the opposite end of the possible damage scale. Save if for later when you get some practice though. They do come in handy for serious correction work - when you're ready.

Its in great shape, and I want to keep it that way. I got an amazing deal on the 4runner, but it needs a little bit of work
