I know you didn't ask me, but using alcohol on the tint seems to be not a good idea. I would use Stoners that is safe for tint.

Dan what do you think?

The unfortunate fact of the matter is that nearly all of the chemicals to remove the 'goo' here have some solvents that can damage the tint film (which is simply just a very thin plastic sheet)...  Again though, just to confirm, this is an AFTERMARKET tint job, correct?  If it's stock, chances are that the tint is IN the glass rather than a coating on the exterior of the glass...

Windex, like Dan mentioned, isn't a good idea because of the ammonia content.  WD-40 is a bad idea because it's primarily toluene.  Goo Gone... I haven't reviewed a MSDS for it in a while but, I seem to recall it having some solvent components...

That said... I'd check with your tint shop to get some opinions.  Different films may have different resistivity to chemicals and thus, they may be able to shed some light on the matter.

RP, the aftermarket tint is Llumar. So far luckily i have no adverse effects of what I used to remove and clean the goo. From now on I will be using a safe for tint window cleaner.
