4" Pad
« on: July 29, 2011, 07:18:11 AM »
I've been using my DA to apply wax lately....mostly NXT.  I've been using 7" Meg's finish pads.  Can I use a 4" pad instead?  I feel like I will have better control with it and will be able to squeeze it into the hard to reach areas......just wasn't sure if the smaller pad might cause more potential for marring.

as long as you use a finish pad, and a low speed, you will be fine.  I apply wax/sealant @ 2.5 - 3 at the most.

I would use the large pad to spread the sealant and do the smaller areas last with a 4-in pad if needed or just by hand.

Thought about doing that but it seems like a waste of product to prime 2 pads.  The 7" pads work okay but they suck around the corners and edges, around trim, windows, fender flares, etc.  They're just too big.  I could probably wax in the same amount of time using the 4" pad only so I might try it next time.

All of my LSP pads are 5.5 inch for my DA, I don't see going to 4" being a problem as long as you keep the speed down. Usually end up doing it by hand or with my cordless DA which works great.
