what have you detailed that made normal people freak?
« on: July 24, 2008, 08:32:13 PM »
ok fess up. Im sure you detailed something that made your neighbor, friend, significant other, etc... look twice, call you nuts, whatever.

What was it?

Not too crazy, but I admit I occasionally do a full on detail on my lawn tractor. Dress the tires the whole nine yards. My neighbor who is in his later 70's just shakes his head. "Boy, you are a strange one"
(he saw me using the leaf blower to dry my truck- he ran into the house to grab his wife and point me out to her)

This is kind of strange...I bought a new stainless gas grill- well to keep it looking mint -I detailed it, put some NXT and some carnuba on every exterior piece...thing looks cleaner than when I picked it up from Home Depot the day before...neighbor told me "goodness gracious boy- now you are waxing a "propane hibachi" you have some crossed wiring up there in your noggin"

Ha Ha...

What have you done?

Oh boy, this could be bad.

I do put HD on my extension cords.  Detail my camper and if it rains while we are camping, I clean it again....I detail all i can.  My bike gets a little clay, Black Hole and some Nattys red from time to time.

Anything I sell on craigslist or ebay gets cleaned up like new.

Every window on my house has been clayed also  Does that give you a glimpse of how bad it is for me?

yeah- you are so bad I can happily relate. I hyperdress all kinds of stuff in my house. I vac the garage floor, then hose it down.
All the windows in the house are now cleaned with Stoners.
My kids turning 3 next week- she is already taking my cleaning stuff out of the garage and detailing her power wheels truck.
I just like stuff to look new and clean.

When I raced motocross, I would soak the bike in armor all so that mud and dirt came off easier. I lifted my weekend toy, but the truck will never see mud because it takes too long to detail the mess afterwards

LOL... first thing I did when they installed the Corian countertop in our bathroom was to get the polish out and give it a quick once-over. Not many swirls, so it wasn't bad!  ;D ;D

Least aggressive product first = The MOST aggressive process (product/pad/machine speed) that will get the job done by removing the LEAST amount of paint, with the LEAST amount of work, in the LEAST amount of time.

I clearly remember detailing one of my son's new bikes one year. It included NXT on the frame (pretty standard), but there was one problem. I got a little silly with HD on the tires. The tires weren't the problem though. It seems I got a little oversparay on the rims where the brake pads run. This led to the little guy overshooting the braking area in the driveway and whacking the back of my truck. Good thing his mom wasn't there and nobody got hurt.

setting up the yard for a birthday party tomorrow...I noticed that I have a serious pet peeve with dirty coolers. I wash them after every use and store them away covered with an old (but clean) car towel. Never fails- when I pull them out- somehow the white top is dirty. I CANT STAND A DIRTY COOLER.  Well, I put an old bottle of Westley's bleach white to good use today. Got those tops whiter than the polar ice caps ;D

Good tip, I am the same way....hate dirty coolers.

I did notice, that if you consume the wobbly pops yourself then clean the cooler before putting it away...it always seems like its clean.

If someone else emptys your wobbly pops on you, then you clean the cooler- it really is clean

Moral of the story: Wobblys= a reduced state of OCDness

for me, its the opposite...wobblys=OCD to a whole other level.

I've detailed this John Deere before (polished, wax, used damn near a whole bottle of tire shine on the tires).  This was after the detail...haha

I've also buffed my cell phone before to try and remove some scratches.  Still need to wax my boat trailer.
