What? No picture of how they light up the surrounding area?
They look good though. I like them. I would love some extra lighting outback. Gets dark at the house.

Jason, where did you get these I have been looking for something similar for my truck. Do you have a picture of how they are mounted?
-
I got them here: https://offbrandproducts.com/collections/aurora-led-pod-work-lights/products/premium-3-led-light-pod-w-scene-light-beamqty-2 . They come with 2 wire harness but you will need more power wire.

On your truck, you will have 2 holes on either side of the bottom of your bumper...that is where I had them on my 06. Yours should be the same. Plus easier to hide the wires.
-
Nice add-on!
Thank you sir.
I still have a 10 inch and 20 inch light bar to tinker with. Mounts for the 17-19's are hard to come by.

I never could find a good spot for a switch on my truck so I wont put any lights on it. Everything on the truck is soft touch, no hard plastic, at least not in any place you'd put a switch.

Ah Grasshopper, you are talking to the king of remotes. You would use a remote box for lights.
Superbrights makes several that take different amps and voltages. There are some more expensive ones out there too but I have used them on our camper and golf cart for years.
They work by the ground wire through the remote box switch.
I have used this one on 3 different campers. Will be getting another one for sure. ratted for 10 amps.

Aurora are total Rigid knock offs but I think they are brighter and better made. The pics really don't do them justice. They are bright AF. But not as bright as their 40 watt Flood pattern lights...those are just crazy bright. I didn't want that this go around, I wanted like a 10-20 ft work light but yet enough to get some one off my butt on the highway.

If you have the upfitter switches, connecting lights is super easy. The bundle is located near the driver side and you simply connect the corresponding color to the switch number. 1-4 are 12-20 amp and 5-6 are 30 amp I believe. Then you simply ground to the battery and presto. Doneso.

that's right, after 2004 they stopped having some be just a switch and some be relay fed.

Aurora makes nice lights. I had a 20" bar on my old truck. Cassie had a 20" bar on her WRX. I also have two 6" combo bars and two cubes in a flood pattern on my atv. Another friend had two 6" combo bars on his car as well. I like that their cubes are 10 watts per LED. I think their bigger bars are 5 watts per LED. A lot of the cheaper brands are 3 watts.

I have only bought 1 pair of Rigid cubes.
My jeep had only Aurora's on it. I had 2 50 light bars, one DR and on SR, then 20 inche hood bar, and 10 inch bumper with cubes everywhere. LOL
Plus I live in a town now called Aurora so I am kind of partial. :uugly:

MIne aren't Ford Upfitters. I installed a custom panel, so anything I hook up has to have a relay installed. Fine with me as I have a wack load of good ones that I can make use of. The plan is to set up the back bumper lights so that I can trigger to come on with the reverse lights or manually. I'll mount up a LED bar on the front once I get the matching front bumper to the rear one going on next week.

All the Aurora lights come with relays and switches so you can cut the switch out and wire to your pod. The two light kits come with connectors for the lights...you will however have to splice pos and neg wires in between the connections b/c they are not long enough to make it from the back of the truck to the front.
-
Makes sense. I already have power and a fused distribution box hidden behind the tail light. I will however need to route some wiring to be able to connect the switch to the relay that I will have to mount at the back of the truck.
The whole front is wired in and ready for a light bar, I just have to get the really expensive bumper...
-
Jason (or anyone this applies to), on a side note but somewhat related to switch location. Assuming you still carry, where do you put your gun while driving? I like some of the mountain but again, I don't want to drill in to the dash. I'm also hesitant to apply an adhesive to it as well. Alien Gear makes a seat holster that places it between your legs on the front of the seat.

Mike, my gun get tossed in the center console while I'm driving. I am not a fan of any of the car holsters that mount in plain sight as they are good way to get shot or at least cuffed if the officer is having a bad day and see's the gun. I have thought about mounting a holster in my console but have not moved from just an idea to actually doing it.

Yeah that reasoning has crossed my mind. I put mine in the console probably half the time. The other half it goes right in the open storage in front of the console. I was pulled over by a state trooper for speeding and it was in my console. Before even reaching for my info I told the officer I had a loaded gun in the console. He was really cool about it. Asked me to remove it, place it on the dash, he asked for the mag and held on to it until we were finished. He asked if I had one in the chamber. I replied no because I didn't at the time. He said ok well if you do then at least you'll only get one shot off on me and he laughed and walked away with my mag. Haha. Cool guy. Actually let me slide on the speeding, instead writing me up for not signing my registration. Haha

Most of the time it is here in the door or in center console. Sometimes I travel with more than 1. I also have a lockable storage under the rear buck seats where I can put an AR or other rifles. When I carry in my hip...I carry Israeli style. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181115/88de9bb934092a70d48be61cba229125.jpg)

I like the idea of the door. I do put it there sometimes. It's a little awkward to grab though and rattles around a bit which drives me crazy. I do like that it's out of site but should I get pulled over, it's easily accessible to a cop. No unnecessary reaching around.

I guess I should clarify that when it's in my door, it's not in a holster. Im using an Alien Gear IWB holster. It works well but isn't something I want to take on and off more than necessary so I just leave the holster and place and remove the gun. Hell, if it's a short drive, I just jump in and go. It's a little uncomfortable if I leave it there but this isn't Texas so its better to just keep it out of site, out of mind to others and not let people see you holster and unholster it. People are parnoid enough.

I can tell you that my scene lights are pretty bad ass. There was this jack hole living in the left lane today, I got around him then in front of him safely of course... put my right blinker on....flipped the lights 2 times at him and he got in the right lane.

I got one of the first ones available and installed it this past weekend. Although not as good as the LED pods it replaced, it's actually quite impressive. And as you said, it's a hell of a lot more subtle looking.

No. I picked up one of the license plate LED light bars linked in Mike's post. I do like your LED pods though!

Worth the money, Tom? How does your version differ to the new one?

Man that Ramen noodle diet is paying off. Thinking about switching over myself.
So what's in the box? I have to admit, I've never really ventured in to upgrading springs and suspension much. I don't tow heavy enough loads or often enough to warrant it.

LOL, I am getting tired of Ramen....only 3 flavors is driving me insane.
Ordered a set of Rebel SumoSprings, progressive rate airless "bags" . rated at 2600 lbs @50% compression.
I had airbags on the pior 250 but I also had air lines running to 3 locations, including the pump, gauge in the cab and dual manual inflate location at the license plate bolts. I tested out the sumosprings on the F150 mainly for the side to side help when under load towing...was very impressed with them and I have them sold already so I got my money back minus 40 bucks. I ordered these this week since they are running a 25% off sale till the end of the year but decided to get the 2 piece version for my 250. Basically, these are air bags without the hassle. I will run just a tad less weight distro on the hitch when pulling to keep the drive axle near normal height and load yet maintaining proper weight distribution and sway control.

think of them as an alternative to air bags
they replace the factory bump stop....not the overload. I am installing today, will get a few photos.

I guess you won't be using your DeWalt Impact Ratchet. Haha.
I stopped being lazy and looked these up. Pretty cool. I wonder how they hold up over time. Do they wear out? And do they provide any lift at all or do they retain factory height?

How does it ride? I know you probably haven't towed anything but what about empty? Did it raise the rear any?
For what it's worth, I always pull the wheels off if they are in the way. I have a DeWalt Impact that makes light work of it. Takes longer to jack the vehicle off the ground.

I haven't tested them yet.Cowbos are playing....
Same stock height. These are the 2 piece version. There is a small gap to where they are not touching with no load. They are progressive rate so they are soft at first them really firm up as they are compressed. I went this route to help with sway when pulling. They really helped the F150 so I am optimistic.

How much did it help with squat? Video I watched where they put a water container in the bed squatted 2.5" stock and only a half inch with the sumo springs.

On the F150? Worked great for squat...but was still able to use weight distro hitch and move some weight to the steer axle.

So reading up on them a bit. I was looking at the different colors (densities) and how to choose the right one for you. According g to their help section, the blue is primarily lighter duty and helps with bumps and potholes and the like. Black is geared more towards towing. Then of course yellow being really heavy duty.
If you couldn't tell, my wheels are turning a little. I have a trip planned in February back down to Tennessee. This year I have the SxS and both quads so I will likely have to borrow a work trailer. It's a lot more weight than I usually tow down there. Usually I have less than 3000 lbs in tow. This year will be 3000 lbs just in machines not to mention the much larger trailer (20' enclosed.) The last time I towed this trailer it had Cassie's tractor in it and it wasn't the most enjoyable.

I don't know what prioducts are avail for your truck,
For my F150 it was only 2 options. Blue or Yellow. The Blue is 1000 lbs. and the Yellow was 1500lbs.
They told me that the 1500 would be too much for my set up and way to harsh unloaded bc it was taller and made contact all the time with the axle.
For the blue, I had 1 inch of space, so bumps and speed bumps were a non issue. The weights don't really mean much as far as pin weight or tongue weight. For instance. My trailer has a loaded tongue of 1160 lbs....I had the 1000lb springs...so they didn't give me 1000lbs of weight, they compress at a progressive rate and give me an added amount of weight that I could take.
For my F250, I did the 2600 2 piece set up that is made from a less dense material that is softer at lower weights and gets progressivly harder (Pardon the pun) as it is compressed. I think they are worth looking in too for your set up. I had airbags on the prior 250...I had air lines going every where and they were kind of a pain in the ass. I also had Timbrens and they were a total joke...those are ON or OFF, dumb stiff and they felt like a rocket shooting the ass end of the truck up when hitting dips or expansion joints...they feel like hitting overloads on every little bump.
So I cannot tell you how I like these 2 piece versions yet. I had a couple of beers during the game so I haven't tested them out yet. I want to grab the trailer this weekend and fill the water tank up to simulate a loaded ride and check the sway and load. I have all my measurements so I will be able to give you stats.
Also, I have a set sitting here, if by chance your truck is the same part needed for a ford, will make you a deal on them. That goes for anyoine with an F150 here that actually posts....LOL. Like the 8 of us. LOL .

Steve nailed it. I put in a Pro-Comp "Add-a-Leaf". They say they add "500lbs" of weight handling. Even though it stiffened up the ride a tad un-loaded, I am very happy with them overall. I like what Jason went for as well, no messing around with lines or air pressure.
I'll only go back to bags if I have a specific need to haul/tow something.
-
just drove 60 miles round trip..found no difference in everyday driving.
I may go pull my camper out of storage and hit the scales this weekend and see how my weights changed. I was trying to get 100lbs back on the front axle from my last weigh in.
Got it, Add A Leaf .

It has a little less raw lumen output. Right at 3300 vs 3800 on the SSR 6 inch light.
Rough Country has a kit with their lights...they are combined only as bright as one Aurora NSSR light. So I went with these and Matthew gave me 10% off my order which was nice. PS, they are located in Allentown PA.
