Title: New Poorboy's Wax
Post by: Kitzy on March 18, 2016, 04:03:37 PM
Just thought I'd throw this out there.  Steve is releasing a new wax this weekend down at the Autogeek Detail Fest.  It's a black wax.  He's really happy with it.  He said it's unbelievable.  He is actually releasing 3 new products this weekend with more in the works.  Here is a shot of a 13 year old truck he personally had a hand in working on where the new Black wax is used.  I stole this from Facebook.

So look for Poorboy's World to expand its lineup in the near future.

I'm simply going to have to get one of those palm trees for my front yard like Merlin's got.

It's funny.  I said to Steve when I talked to him that any paint reflecting a palm tree looks good to us northerners.

NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT... LIQUID NATTY'S RED! We've had numerous requests to make a liquid version of the ultra high-gloss Natty's Red Paste Wax and now we've done it! Liquid Natty's Red is an amazing formula that may be used on all paint colors and brings a level of gloss, slickness, and shine of a paste wax. Think of Liquid Natty's Red as a paste wax in liquid form. This easy to use liquid car wax can be used by hand or machine in sun or shade. It is a wipe on, let haze, buff off product and is great as a topper or a standalone last step product. Making it's debut this weekend at Detail Fest and Poorboy's distributors across the world!

This is a lot of wax!

caught these on FB too...that red liquid must be really popular to offer in 1 gallon.

Wish all the coatings around now, do we still need a "wax"  ?

I don't use coatings.  I don't know why.  I just don't.  I just prefer wax.

With a coating on the paint, there is no need for wax.

I would take a SWAG ( maybe just a WAG, nothing scientific about it ) that < 30% of the vehicles, that people take care of, have a coating on them.

That might be a very high guess considering how many still do the turtle wax 2x per year.

It looks as if a fair amount use coating, but that is from our little corner of the world where we are OCD enough to no only do it, but also post about it with others.

Look at F150 OL.  I would say <10 members on there use coatings, and ~half of them are also members here.  The remainder still use some kind of LSP.
If there are only 100 that take care of their truck, that sample shows ~ 10% use coatings.

Myself, only the top of the cab, the cap and tailgate has a coating on it, the remainder I still play around with LSPs on.
- Power Lock for the winter. Over the summer I will switch up between PL and Natty's paste layered with Black hole to get a look.

I just polished (Meguiar's M205) then coated (C.A.R. Bullet Proof) the Tacoma yesterday. I'm pretty well sold on the stuff. It lasted all through the tough Rochester winter and was still on there by spring. I figured I'd take what was left off and replace it with a fresh coat. I really do like the way the stuff looks too.

Tom... really?  You're not even going to follow your own "rules?"

And not a single picture was posted...

Well, first it's Toyota paint, so it's almost perfectly flat and shines like no tomorrow. Second, it shines even more after I spend some time working on it. Third, I drove the truck for a couple of hours this morning so its no longer clean. Finally, if I make the rules, I can break the rules.

Maybe I'll try to get a shot later after the sun goes down a little and I don't get blinded looking at it.  :funny:

You live in rochester, atleast give us a shot of the sun setting over the lake.  You can leave the Toyota out of it so you don't ruin the picture.

Editted for spelling.  Apparently I need to proofread from now on.

That paint would look so good on a Ford or Chevy!  Haha.

Looks good, Tom!

I think I'm going to get a small bottle of the liquid red from Steve. It's been a while since I tried something new. Looks interesting and I like things you can apply "in the sun".

I personally like coatings for the winter time, but when summer comes I want to spend time on the paint more often. This means coatings aren't really needed as a decent sealant or even wax will last long enough before I get the itch to touch the paint again. Even though with the wee one this summer, we'll see how much time I actually get to spend on paint.

Liquid blue is awesome.  One of the easiest on and off waxes I've ever used.  It created a lot of reflection rather than a deep pool.  It was unique in a way.

He also has strawberry air freshener now.  I use his leather scent air freshener a lot.  I love that stuff.  May have to try the strawberry just because I love strawberry scented and flavored stuff.

I'm interested to see what else he has in the works.  He likes to keep it under wraps for a little but he always ends up telling me.  Haha.  It's cool to see Steve have a renewed excitement in his company.

This could be more from the color of the paint, but Liquid blue I find is the same as Natty's blue paste; depth on dark colors.

Natty's red is what is suggested for lighter colors, it creates more pop than depth to the paint.
- I have messed with red on dark paint, and it does not put much depth to the finish, but it does add a ton of pop.

White can be made to more Pearl white with Black hole and natty's red layered.

White was always intended for lighter colors with blue being intended for darker colors while having some ability to hide swirls making it a good layering wax when your paint isn't perfect.  Red is meant more for full on details where you're paint is exceptional.  That is where the red shines, no pun intended.  This has always been my take on them from conversations with Steve and Pockets.

I used to have a picture but for the life of me I can't find it.  It was my black Mustang parked next to a black Dakota at one of Steves set ups at a show.  My Mustang had liquid blue and the Dakota had blue paste.  The Dakota just sucked everything in to its depths while my car just looked like a mirror.

For what its worth, when talking with Steve, I said I the black wax wouldn't do me much good on my white truck and his response was "nope but the new Liquid Natty Red might do something to it".

Hmmmm...Should I be looking at Natty's blue then???

I would say my "Blue Flame" falls on the darker side of colors and maybe the new red isn't the best.

I don't think red is supposed to be color dependant.  I think its good for all colors.  I know it doesn't have any concealing properties like blue does.  I would say try the red.

Edit - from the website
White was the original.  Can be used on any color but makes light and metallic colors pop.

Blue was designed to cater to darker colors and has the ability to  hide minor imperfections.

Red was a combination of the two with minor tweaks.  Used for light or dark to enhance depth, gloss, witness and slickness.

Black seems to be a combination of red and blue.  Meaning you get the look of red on steroids when used on dark colors.  These are my words, not the websites.  It's just my take on it.

I may get some black too just to have so I can try it.  I wonder what it would do on white.

Thanks, the red does seem interesting.

I'll order some up in a few weeks and see how it does. I just put a coat of PowerLock on after I "clayed", so it will be good till I get into a "big" detail in the coming weeks.

About how long would you say the air fresheners last? I tried some from CG once and I found if I sprayed it in the morning it was pretty much gone by that afternoon. It smelled great just didn't last. I've been thinking of trying one from PB, just curious as to how it last.

I haven't tested the new red but i have had all and have all the PB waxes.  None disappointed.  The Special Red is my fav of the PB waxes.

I just don't use waxes anymore.  I keep all the LSP's in stock (all my waxes are in my wine fridge)   they are still usable but I prefer correction then opti-coat.

I will add that my two fav waxes are Super Natural and Obsessive.   I LOVE those two products.   Those products are just dumb sexy.    Just saying

It's hard to say.  For one it doesn't take.much even thiugh I load up the carpets, under the seats and in the vents.  It obviously fades but I think others still notice it.  I think I just get used to it.  But a few quick squirts to freshen it up is all it takes.  It would be nice to have them in the PB sample bottles like QD+ comes in.  Just to keep in the center console.  You can also dilute PBs airnfresheners and use them that way or in carpet cleaners.   I would say my interior has a noticeable smell for a week or so. The dilution factor is nice because you can control the intensity.

Don't get new car scent.  It is not new car scent.  Itw an over bearing laundry detergent / cleaner smell.
Leather is very much leather.  I love it.  Just like Leather Stuff.
Cherry is the same as Natural Look.

I imagine the new strawberry is similar to Nattys Red.

I think I am going to follow Steve's lead and do the roof, bumpers and grill with OC 2.0 and then try out this new PB wax on the rest of the truck.

Just waiting to hear back from a Canadian Supplier to see if they are going to bring in the red.

I will order some Bug Squash, Spray and Rinse and Leather Stuff at the same time. Should tide me over for the season.

Love leather stuff!  I wish it was available in a spray version like natural look.  I use it on all the interior plastics because it looks similar, a little less shine, but keeps and compliments the smell of the seats rather than mixing smells.  That and Slick and Wax I use the most.

Good deal.  I'm trying to talk Steve in to sending me a new enzyme carpet and upholstery cleaner to test out in a box big enough to fit the new liquid red and strawberry air freshener.  Haha  shameless.
