Well it’s apparently not letting me upload anymore.  I’ll have to try resizing them and seeing if it lets me upload smaller files.

But anyway, I’ve been trying to get out as much as possible.  What that actually means is I go out before the sun comes up on the weekends, hike to my destination before sunrise and then hurry home.  I’ll try to get some more photos up even if Tapatalk kills the quality.

What an amazing sunrise! The quality gets killed some, but still pretty beautiful!

Thanks Ryan. It’s just frustrating when you battle trying to get the sharpest photos possible and then the sharpest is lost when you try to share them.  Facebook is almost as bad.

I’m going to attempt to share one or two at a time and see if Tapatalk is any happier with that.  This one was taken under a covered bridge right down the street from my house.  Most of my pictures are from a few minutes drive of my house so part of the process is trying to find small standout scenes in an average place.  I don’t have the time to travel farther right now.    Water levels were low and exposed a bit more rock than normal which helped to create that small whirlpool.  I went back a week later and that feature wasn’t there.  I wish the leaves on the ground were colorful instead of brown but that window is very small and that time was spent other places.

I think I figured out it’s a file size issue.  Can’t be more than 20MB.  My camera is 60 MP so in RAW format the images are anywhere from 65MB to 75MB and even when saved in JPG they are still often over 30MB.

These were taken at a semi local state park, Hickory Run.  I have more from here but these were taken on the same morning.  The falls that are in the same picture as the white chapel are actually the same falls that are in the background of the bridge picture.

Same park, different day.  Actually think the road picture was taken the same day as the previous waterfall and chapel pictures.

Thank you.  I really appreciate that.  I have a hard time sharing things like this because I feel like it’s a little bit too “Look at me…”. Haha. That’s why they’ve never hit Facebook outside of a couple photography specific groups.

That road picture was funny because I took a handful of shots and then the second I reached for the off button to pack up and go home, the sun peaked through the trees and I scrambled to adjust and get that shot.  There is another one from a few weeks earlier looking the other direction.

These two were taken at the same lake as the first sunset photo with the rocks.  Beltzville lake at Beltzville Lake State Park about 10 minutes from my house.  The lake is formed by two creeks merging and then its damed which creates the lake.  I have kayaked to the second area many times but when I hiked out to photograph it, it was pitch black so I had to wait for some light so I was really looking around.  I had never noticed the larger fall with the tree across it just up the creek before.  Pleasant surprise and I’m actually working on another set of photos from last weekend of that waterfall when it was 15 degrees out.

The Appalachian Trail runs across the top of the Blue Mountains which you can see from my house.  My town is situated just through a gap in the mountains known as the Lehigh Gap.  I’ve always wanted to hike it so during the Balloon fest I decided to make the predawn hike up to find a spot on the rock outcropping.  Ended up being a great morning and even had a run in with a porcupine.  Never saw one alive in the wild before.  This gal is right at the edge of town so maybe 10 minutes to the trail head from my house.  I wasn’t quite ready for the trail to be almost. 1,000 feet of elevation gain over a mile and a half.  Well worth it though.

Speaking of the Lehigh Gap, as you drive through the gap and in to my town, the first thing you see is the big house on the hill.  One of the first times out with my camera I attempted to photograph it.  I had a very specific shot in mind but it never panned out.  I got everything in the shot I wanted but the house was oriented on an angle I didn’t like and had a tree in a bad spot.  So I quickly packed up and drove to another part of town for something else I had in mind.  I think it’s a cool shot and shows the gap behind it but it was my first attempt at a large pano and it didn’t stitch perfect and  some of the trees had movement to them.

I went out again one day for a different shot I had in my mind but it was a clear morning with nothing going on cloud wise to catch a colorful sunrise.  The sky did light up a really nice orange though and my position on the far side of the gap put the sunrise behind the house and isolated everything around it.

Just to wrap up my town, these three are all taken from the same spot.  It’s called Stoney Ridge, which is essentially a stoney ridge that runs parallel to the mountain and sits between my house and the mountain.  It’s about a half mile straight out of my front yard so I was able to walk over and climb it.

The first shot is looking towards town, since I live on the outskirts, and ends at one side of the gap.  The house on the hill is just out of frame to the right.

Pam slightly right from there and the sun just came through the gap and lit up the hill on the other side of town.  I actually had already packed my camera up to go home when the sun shines through.

And then a shot of the ski resort and down hill mountain bike course.

The balloons were neat.  If you’ve never done it, I highly recommend it.  I e done it twice.  I have a few more pictures of them but that one was standout to me.  They remind me of drone shots but I was just on top of the mountain.

What I struggle with is moving subjects in low light.  So animals and people.  I did happen to get these deer.  There were 6 of them in this field which was surprising because I got there before sunrise and was out taking photos and trying to find shots before the sun came up.  As you’ll see I was getting some shots while it was rising and then once it was up I was looking towards the field and I zoomed way in and was surprised to see them there.  Two were buck and just seems to be hanging out with each other while the other 4 doe just followed them around.  In one photo it looks like the buck are fighting but they weren’t.

The geese were cool because I was just turning around to set up in another direction and they were flying past me.

The light trails came out awesome I thought but the car was flip g to slow so if you zoom in you can see where the car was when the camera stopped taking the photo.

This is as close to beautiful photography as I can get. Grabbed this the other morning while taking Herbie out for his morning walk. I'm thinking it might make a good Christmas Card picture.
