Weird Chevy Oil Pressure Issue

Friend at work has an 03 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 I believe. He recently took it in to his local Chevy house to have the oil changed (his first mistake in my opinion.) Now the oil pressure gauge is pegging out at 80psi. It appears that the gauge is not reading properly. When the truck is not running, it sits at the 60psi mark, as if that's where it's reading as 0 psi.

I know nothing about Chevy trucks. Do yall think the gauge is mechanical or electric? Seems like if it's mechanical, the may have moved the cog or something to make it read high on accident, or to get him to take it back in.

Bottom line is, I'm trying to save him some money from the stealership - any ideas?

They probably just knocked the connection off the sending unit while changing the oil filter.

I would have to agree with Zaairman on this as well its probably just a lose wire on the sending unit.
