Makita Rotary Advice?
« on: December 16, 2008, 11:25:24 AM »
Hey guys, I need some Christmas advice. I?ve been doing all of my detailing work with two Porter-Cable PC?s but have definitely learned that the machine has certain limitations. One of my mentors (Boss) has been egging me on to make the leap to a rotary and recommends the Makita for what I do. So, I have a few questions before I ask Santa for one:

- Is the Makita 9227C the one to go with?
- It looks like this model comes with a 7? backing plate. I?m assuming that this rules out me using my stock of Meg?s 6? pads from my PC?s?
- Any recommendations for a good place to purchase one?

I picked up a Makita 9227C this summer and I also found that Meg's makes a 5.5IN backing plate for there SOLO system that will work with the 6.5IN pads for the PC. Hope this helps.

Get it, and get a Meguiar's SOLO backing plate. Settled.   :hs:

Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks. Will the Meg's SOLO backing plate work with the regular Meg's pads or just the SOLO pads?
