Am I seeing things or is that wheel damaged?

No, you're seeing it correctly Mike. The bike was wrecked in 2010 and left at a body shop so they sold it, and it got sold again, then I bought it this weekend. It's a 2004 Honda VTX 1300 with 3,500 miles on it and I paid $800 for it. I figure if I put $2,000 bringing back to life I can still make money on it if I want to flip it. I will most likely end up keeping it and riding it until I am bored with it.
I didn’t even notice the tank before.  Anything else damaged on it?

So far the parts list looks like this. The list is just to get it rideable not including what I want to do to it to make it mine

Front wheel and axle
Complete Triple Tree
Turn Signals all the way around
Handle Bars
Front brake controls
Clutch lever and cables
Throttle Cable
Front Fender
Rear brake control and master cylinder
Exhaust
Headlight
Paint all tins
So what does a used one in good condition go for?

Anywhere from $4,500 up $6,000 depending on condition and mileage.
How much are parts and labor going to cost?

I am working on the parts list so I am not quite sure on the cost yet and the only labor I'm taking into account is the body shop fixing the dent in the tank and painting everything.

Would Paintless Dent Repair work for the tank dent?

Would Paintless Dent Repair work for the tank dent?

I don't know if they'd be able to get the tools past the baffle in the tank. And the opening is pretty small. They'll probably end up welding studs to it and using a slide hammer to pull the dent.

They have a technique called a "glue pull" where they temporarily glue studs to the painted surface and pull on them. When finished, they simply shear the stud off, and the paint is untouched. Ask me how I know that.  :om:

Did someone put a dent in their vehicle? The bike is getting painted a different color so I'm not too concerned about preserving the paint at this point.

I know NOTHING about motorcycles.  I couldn’t even tell you roughly the cost of any of them.  Not even a ballpark.  So how much doe a replacement tank cost?  They seem like relatively small parts that are mass produced.  It’s not like American Chopper where they make one-off, hand-made tanks. And do you ever fully trust a repaired fuel tank?

A damaged tank on eBay will run between $400 to $800 depending on the damage and a NOS will run $1000+. The problem is they quit making these in 2008.
