Well these hacks are also making money by just doing details and posting them on YouTube....just wondering if we are letting money get away from us. LOL
Sure we are letting money get away from us, we have day jobs as well as lives.
I would be curious to know how many of them still live at mom& dad's and are doing 'detailing' between Uber shifts and Grub hub slots ( or smoking pot and playing video games ).
I would also be curious to know how much money they are actually making when taking into account the consumable products as well as any equipment they are using.
- You know they do not have business insurance for when they burn a hole through the paint on a plastic bumper..
If you think of how much you make at your day job, you have a water mark for what your time is worth.
Now add in the
missing your family or hobby differential and add it to what you make.
Add that hourly rate to the consumable products you are using and the fraction of the cost of the equipment.
Add in business insurance and the millage rate to get to a job.
It is not hard to see how your last full exterior detail on your SD ( in good shape ) would have cost ~ 500.00(+??).
Ivan is the only guy around here I would let touch my vehicles, and he starts at 1,000.00 for 80 to 95% swirl marks and lighter defects removal on a SUV. Truck would be more.
The 1st stage of the paint correction is an Enhancement Detail ( 40 to 75% removal ) starts at 500.00 on a SUV.
- This is with something akin to PL being applied to the paint.
If it is beyond what he calls swirl marks and lighter defects, the price goes up.
Clear film, coatings and other things are add ons to the base price.
Given Ivan is not a Detailing VLOGER quality person, neither are you.
You would have to either charge those rates or do 50% defect removal work to get in the game.
Those Vlogger clowns are charging ~200.00 for a 40% removal and glaze job with either PL applied and taken right off or do a WOWA sealant.
We could stack up jobs left and right for that price, but at what cost ?
- Starts to look like detail king around here. They charge 60.00 for an exterior wash, if it is not that dirty...
