Windrock Offroad Park
« on: February 28, 2019, 01:26:50 PM »
During our annual trip to Tennessee we all decided rather than make the trip multiple times to ride, an hour and a half each way, we would just get a cabin and we could ride right from the front door.  Got a cool little cabin for a couple nights and hit the trails.  The other SxS has some ground clearance issues and had to be winched out a few times.  Otherwise, everything went well.  Even my bonehead mistake of flying blindly over a hill and stuffing the right front wheel into a cross rut.

There's a ton of gopro footage but it'll take a while to narrow down 30 hours or so of video to a few minutes

It was a blast.  Like always.

Here is the only video I took that wasn't on the gopros.  That rut is huge and thats a vertical drop off on the other side.  It had to be winched up.

That looks like my kind of fun!

Great pics, I am itching so bad to buy a summer toy, but I have to hold off for a little while yet.

I got home today.  I took a look at some of the GoPro footage.  We had three going at all times.  I had two on my SxS and one on Cassie's helmet.  The SxS had a forward and a rear facing on the roll cage.  The forward facing is the new Hero7 Black.  Then other two are Hero4 Blacks.  I didn't expect that much difference because there never is but there is a huge difference in stability and even color grading.  The 7 is way better.

Here is a quick shot on the color grading.  You cant tell much from the stability because one is a helmet cam.  But maybe you can get an idea just based on how smooth the cage mounted camera is.

The H7 is mounted to the roll cage on the Maverick.  The H4 is mounted to Cassie's helmet.  I watched the upload version twice.  One time it was really low quality and the next time it was fine.  Not sure whats up with that.  Maybe Vimeo is still processing the video.

Wow, I think that shows a pretty massive difference.

I think I'll invest in a Drone prior to a GoPro, but it's on the list!

The problem with helmet cam is that if you have someone who is constantly looking around like a bobble head, the footage is unusable.  My first time out with a helmet cam was like that.  No one  gave me a heads up.  Cassie's first few times, and still now sometimes, we're like that.

Interesting thing about the H7.  I had it cage mounted with the front end a little visible.  Obviously none of that moves independent from each each other.  The camera is fixed with the machine.  But when you watch some of the video, you can see the front end moving around some.  The footage is smooth though.  It's very much gimbal like but without a gimbal.  The internal stabilization is very good.

This image here, Jason?  If so, I tried my best to get out of the shot.  I just couldn't do it and still get the shot.  I'm bent over, ducking and teaching in from the side.  Just wasnt good enough.
