Adams Swirl Killer Mini Review

(1/1)

sscully:
I have been looking at mini's for some time.  I kept going back and forth on the Adam's vs the Flex.

After reading reviews, I got a 15% off deal on the Adam's and went for it.

It is a hefty machine well made.

I 1st tried OPT 3.25" Compounding pad & Hyper Compound.  It did alright considering what I threw at it out of the gate.  I ran it on speed 6.

I marked the pad base so I could tell when it stalled, and if I put moderate down pressure on the machine it would stall.
- Don't buy into the reviews that say it does not stall.
This setup will haze the paint pretty good and it removed the defects in the paint.

Next I went to a carpro pad and PB ProPolish.  I ran it on speed 6.

It did a decent job removing the haze from the compounding step.

It is not made for this type of correcting, it seems to do better than the PC with a 3" adapter plate on it.

Any questions let me know.

Thanks for posting this up. I was curious about it as something to have in the arsenal to be dedicated to small pads.

Do you think it’s worth it to get or just run a smaller backing plate and pads on a PC?

I was using the smaller pad on the PC before, and it was OK, but correcting wise it is not to the level of the Adam's mini.

If you think you won't be doing anything but single pass polishing with a 3" pad, then the PC would work just fine.
- It is not a lot of work to run a PC with a white pad and ProPolish / M201 on it.

I always seem to fall into the problem of there is an area where defect removal is needed, and white pad & PP takes a bit of time.

I guess it comes down to what is your time worth.  Do you need the worm drive saw or are you going to turn a 4x4 into a 2x4 with sand paper.
- The analogy of both get to the same point, just a matter of how quick you get there.

Rollingrock:
Good review, I have a PC set up with the 3" backing plate.   Still clumsy but works...suppose I will look at these more closely .
