I thought about the insurance.  I just don't want to spend any more money right now. I also don't want to regret it.  I have another day to think about it.

You have time, I am considering getting it myself...replacement for 99 bucks on the 4 p for first time, 149, second time.

Wondering if that covers "lost" product too.

Thanks for visiting the Cafe, come back often.  There's always something new!

You would know better than I would if it's covered but I thought I read somewhere you should get it in case you lose it.   That doesn't mean it was from a good source though.

The DJI app said I ha e two days to get the insurance or is that something else?

Jason, I don't mean to jack your thread.  Just do the think my first trip out is deserving of a new thread.  Haha.  Nor does it compete with Tahoe.  Haha

Just a couple snaps.  This thing intimidates the hell out of me right now. Watching it go up and damn near disappear is nerve racking.  Especially not knowing all of the options and buttons yet.

Dude, that is awesome....and you are not alone...first flights are tough....wait till others get around you and look over your shoulder..I actually was shaking I was so nervous of my first flights in Tahoe b/c i was in enemy grounds...LIBERAL meca and was waiting for someone to bother me while I was flying.  I just try to stay safe and not be intrusive.   That Mavic is quieter than mine so you don't have to fly as high to be heard.

You should be able to run video and take photos at the same time...video button is near the gimbal control on the left and shutter button is on the right side of the controller.

Great job, gives you a whole new perspective.

You will get your confidence up once you get it figured out.  Takes some flights.

Thanks.  Our property is 300x300 feet.  I barely flew out of that.  I took it up to 350 feet and stopped.  I was just getting a feel for flying it manually and panning around with the camera.  Will take it out again this evening.

Using flight modes takes time to set up and can be tricky.   What I would recommend you try is to become smooth and clean with flying in circles using forward and side trust and gentle gimbal turns on the camera.     POI is the best method for doing this but can take up to 3 min to set up before you hit the record button.   That is 3 min of battery time just wasted.

Stay out of sport mode until you get proficient.  It changes everything.

No sport mode yet.  It's such a weird feeling as you fly it further away.  I took it to the end of the road, maybe a quarter mile away.  I just feel like I'll never see it again at that point.  Haha.

I promised a picture of the tonneau... Figured why not use the drone while it's out.

Cover looks good, I have the same hand print in dust on mine too!

Did you ever find where the end cap screws go?   Was I right or was it something different?

You were correct.  Totally missed that step.  I just put the screws in after playing with the drone that resulted in that picture.  Screws aren't in there in the picture.  Hell, the back passenger end cap isn't even on in that picture because it fell out in the garage and I didn't notice.

Someone on the mavic forum has one posted as of yesterday.  Same kit as mine.  $1100 ($1289 + free shipping at B&H where I got mine) with split shipping.  Unfortunately he has it listed as CONUS shipping so I don't know about Canada or how close you are to the border.

Isn't your birthday today?  Haha

Mike, you gonna fly any this weekend?

I just got a controller lanyard.   so I don't drop the damn thing.

We are expecting rain in the am, but then I may drive around the countryside and see if anything looks intresting to see from the air.

The sun has barely been out at all since I got the thing.  Drove down to Tennessee this morning and it rained all but an hour of the 11 hours it took us to get there.  Rain all day tomorrow as well.  So hopefully sometime after that.  Already planning places to check out once I get back.
