Which Pad ?
« on: June 05, 2017, 05:06:51 PM »
I bought a Porter 7424 about four years ago and never even took it out of the box. I want to use it on the weekend to wax my RV with Meguires Premium Marine wax and wondered which pad I should be using ! I. Ant remember off hand what colors I bought but I know I have a few of them. Not looking to cut or anything just apply the wax and buff with a mf towel after.

Let us know what colors/brand pads you have and we can recommend.

Depending on brand, the colors mean different levels of cut.

You're going to want to use the softest pad for wax application with no correction.

I will have to look at them when I get back to the cottage, is it really worth using the 7424 for wax or would I just be better off by hand ? Its a 30 foot 5TH Wheel Trailer.

I would be using the 7424. I like waxing a vehicle by hand, but anything larger like a boat/RV and I would be breaking out the machinery.

If they are Meguiar's pads, then the tan or black pad would be fine.

Definitely use the PC.  set your speed to 4 and you can cover a lot of ground quickly.  Properly prime the pad, then go along the paint in the direction that the wind flows across the panel.

Blue is best for applying wax, but the black would work as well.

I think we've all been replying assuming the OP is applying a pure wax - with no cleaners or polish. If you're using an AIO (all in one) product, you will want to use a more aggressive pad.

I took the OP to mean he was using M63 and not M61.

I guess it is best to ask, instead of assume... So good point well taken
