New garage light
« on: December 05, 2016, 10:27:16 PM »
So this is the before.

I opted for the superbright LED 17,300 lumen light.   I called Big Ass Fans to get the garage light but the rep was a total ass hole douchbag.   So I got this.   Looks like I need 2 more.   But it is bright AF...much brighter in person.

Hmmm.  I need lighting badly in the garage.  I have two of the corkscrew looking bulbs lighting the entire thing.  It's pathetic.

It looks like you mounted a light bar to the ceiling.

I was thinking the same thing....it really is like a light bar...the pics don't do it justice.  The camera shuts down and it looks darker.  Its bright AF but I need one more on that side and I will do the 3rd car one day but not in a hurry.

I've been toying with switching from fluorescents to LEDs in my garage for a while now. (I have six 4' fixtures.) Do they distribute the light well or is it pretty directional?

I have 6 LED fixtures in my garage plus LED bulbs in the garage door openers.  It is very evenly distributed.  I used the "daylight" type bulbs.  My wife says it is so bright you could land a plane inside.

Tom, this light that I bought is kind of concentrated to a "bay".   Its shoots a long wide beam on the North South axis and only about 10 feet wide on the East West.

If you are going to tie in multi lights, I would use these :

I am going to buy 2 of these for my single car garage where the KR is but add one more of the high powered ones over the Jeep.

Did you do a lighting layout ?

Seems like you are going too high on lumen output over the jeep, where you might be better using 3 in that 2 bay garage of lower lumen output on each one.

Taking a hand grenade SWAG, each fixture would be right about the side of each vehicle ( pass side of the Expd and driver's side of the Jeep - where the opening already appears to be at ).  Front to rear is your call.
- This is assuming you will be using the other bay for detailing.
