White vinegar and Murphy's Oil Soap detail
« on: August 12, 2016, 08:15:31 PM »
This is my first attempt to post photos so we will see how it goes.  This is a detail of my 1946 Chris-Craft U22 Sportsman using non-traditional products.

My grandfather bought it from the original owner in 1963.  Boat was taken down to bare wood in 2007.  After the correct color stain and about 10 or so coats of varnish, it has a pretty nice shine when clean.  All of the mahogany planking from the water line up is 70 years old and original.  After sinking twice (in shallow water) and one minor fire in the 1980s, all of the bottom framing and bottom planking from the waterline down (everything in green) was replaced.

Vinegar and water to remove water spots, full wash down with Murphy's Oil Soap and then polish for the chrome (and there is a lot of it), copper, brass and stainless steel.

Some of these pictures are from the end of last summer and some are from this past June.

Hidden in all of these pictures is Too Stroked who is always willing to lend a helping hand, offer advice, drink a beer with and generally makes sure she is well taken care of.

Trust me on this one. Pictures do not even come close to showing what a beautiful boat this is. Nice work!

Very nice boat! I love that style, just something special about cruising in them.

These are some super sexy photos posted in the Cafe...I would love to "hear" that rig.

Classic woodie boat porn right there.
