Detail - Honda CRV
« on: September 21, 2015, 12:14:35 PM »
I had this black CRV in my shop.  It lives outside, not in a garage, so it needed a lot of help.

Not a lot of before and after pics, but here are a couple that I took.

First set:  Removal of etching from bird poop.

Before:

After wet sanding:

After polishing.

And here is a before and after of the passenger side front door.  The entire vehicle was like this.

Doug,

Awesome work - as usual! That "after" shot of the hood looked more like a perfectly focused shot of your ceiling!

How long did it take start to finish? How hard / soft did you find the Honda paint to be? What did you use for the major correction work?

Thanks Tom.

The paint was typical Honda paint.  Not soft, but softer than GM or Ford.

The hood had three bad spots, took about 10 minutes per spot.  That after hood shot is after the 101, but before the 205 and sealant.

Overall, the car took about 8 hours working at my old fat man pace. .  I used 101 on an orange pad, followed by 205 on a blue pad.    Menzerna powerlock as the sealant.

I only took it to 85% or so, since it lives outside.   I did get a text from the guy last night that said his mom pulled her civic out of the garage and put the CRV in since it looked "too nice to leave outside".

Doug,

that turned out great.

That after shot is only step #1 is pretty impressive.

Gip   Looks great man.

thanks again for the quick FB chat today....these pads...are you referring to the Lake Hybrid pads?   You are saying Orange and not Tangerine....right?   LOL

Talked with T today, he almost talked me out of picking up some 101 and talked about 100....after a little break from Detailing, some things have passed by me and I am trying to get caught back up on product pad combos.

That after hood shot, looks pretty amazing. Either great camera work or great detail work, maybe both???  :uugly:

What's this 100? I've been dropping the ball!

I haven't tried the 100, but I have heard good things.  It is recommended for use with a wool pad n a rotary.  Did T mention that?

Great work GIP!

I haven't tried the 100 either, we use 101 a lot.  If M100 is anywhere close to M101 it would be worth it, huge price difference between the 2.

I just ordered some, so I will give it a run this weekend and see,  I have a nasty black Accord scheduled, so it wil be a good test for it.

I picked up some 101 today....I think my 205 is still good.

Justin, my Optimum products didn't do so well over the winter and summer I think they are toast.

I watched this some time ago. May help with the definition of M100, M101 and M105.

You are not the only one. I just don't like slinging my (DeWalt) Rotary around when I can get similar results with my Flex - and M101.

What the heck did you do to them ?

It gets a lot colder up in Chicago, my garage hung just above freezing most of this past winter.

Did you try putting the bottles in a container of boiling water to heat them up before shaking them ?
- I do this just about every time I do a detail.  Makes mixing and keeping them mixed over the detail session a lot easier.
