Oil leak on the ol gal
« on: June 29, 2015, 11:48:09 PM »
Well shit on a pumpkin.....

I went to change the oil on the F250 tonight after a long pull down to San Antonio this past weekend only to look up and see lots of oil.....and lots of oil splatter.

I have no idea where this is coming from.  I sent a note to my wrench (a Ford Master Diesel Tech) and sent photos.

It looks like above oil pan on both sides and it is running down.   Coolant level looks ok,  Gonna take a look in the morning and see what is up.

I noticed some blue smoke from tail pike at idle today while hooking up.   Makes me nervous.  I cannot afford a major project on this truck right now.

Thanks for visiting the Cafe, come back often.  There's always something new!

Good luck.    I feel your pain.    I've had an annoying leak on the GTO for a couple of years.  I put it on the lift this last weekend, and verified what I was worried about.  My leak is the rear main seal, which I expected, since it is a Pontiac.

Hopefully it is something minor with your KR.

JP,

If memory serves me correctly, there's an o-ring or two at the base of the turbo that goes bad on 6.0's and it leaks down the valley and then down the sides of the block. Ask your buddy about it. It's not a terrible job, but it is kind of a PITA - especially wrestling the turbo out.

Thanks guys dodged a bullet here.  It was the top intercooler boot.  No wonder I felt sone loss of boost too.  Felt like a new truck today.

Glad you found it JP! Common thing, I replaced mine last summer too. I thought I had a rear main seal leak (so did the ford tech), but thankfully it wasn't.

Might just be time to replace all of those hoses. And check the clamps too because they can go bad.
