Well, I guess I finally pushed the transmission too far.

This is gonna hurt the wallet!

2nd gear is making some noise.

Ouch! Yea, that's gonna leave a mark. You going to beef it up now?
Is there another option?  Haha.  Make sure you beef it up enough to withstand more power for when you're bored with what you have again.  Haha

Apparently the trans I have being built can take a drag racing season in a 1000whp truck. So should last me many years.

It is a heavy little bugger though, I forgot that the torque converter alone weighed 80lbs.

You pulled that bad boy without a transmission jack and / or lift? You're a better man than I!  :om:

I was able to pull the transfer case by hand, but used the floor jack to hold most of the weight and then just balanced it as I pulled the transmission off and lowered it.

I’m sure this transmission weights more than 250lbs. No way was I gonna “bench press” that off the truck, lol.

I used to drop them on my chest - when I was younger - and the transmissions were lighter. I can only imagine what would have happened if I dropped that bad boy on my chest!  :dope:

I did that with the 5speed standard on my old ‘91 ranger. Had to swap out that transmission 5 times in 3 years. The Mazda transmission that was garbage.

I’m going to do some looking around under the truck and see if there is anything that should be taken care of while I have the trans out. I think the vacuum pump was sweating oil a little bit, may be a good time to swap it or at least re-seal.

Replacement transmission has shipped out, hopefully it arrives by the end of next week.

It is built to handle 1000hp, so I should be good for a long time.

Sounds like the truck is due to receive 1001 hp now.  That is the way it works isn't it?

Lol, no way. This truck is done power wise. I just want to drive it and keep it clean now.

Only maintenance and break/fix stuff now.

Ok so kill the turbos, clog some injectors and burn up a fuel pump.  Let's get this show on the road.  Haha.

Kidding.  I don't want to be the reason you get jinxed and it breaks down.  Haha.  Here's to a long happy life for the truck!

More power is cool and all, but I really like it where it is right now. It’s very drivable and fun.

I hear ya.  So more importantly now, what can you expect from the new transmission besides actually holding up?

Not much honestly. I’ll be able to set the shifts to be quicker and they will be firmer given the same settings. I can make it shift pretty much however I like with the tuning software. My tuner has taught me a ton of stuff and it’s pretty cool what you can actually mess with.

Man, almost forgot all about this.  You've probably gone through 3 or 4 sets of different wheels since you ordered that tranny.
