Looks like we are about 4-5 weeks till the motor arrives. I asked for a bit of a change to the head work which delayed things about a week.

I'm getting pretty stoked about this now that things are happening. I gotta say that this engine builder has been nothing short of awesome to work with and understands a strict budget (hit on top of it by a 35% less CDN dollar).

If anyone needs a EcoBoost or 5.0 built engine, I highly suggest RMB Motorsports.

I decided it's a good idea to drop the wheels off to get them checked for straightness before going through the effort of custom coated them.

Found a good local place through a friend that will check them for free and seemed reasonable if they need a little tweaking.

Both samples of the powders look good, but I'll be going with the lighter one. It's the one posted before with the Wheel example. I think it will look really good.

Talked with the Engine Builder today. Engine will be in a crate on the hwy by August 10th. Later than I had hoped, but all good in the end and the wait will be worth it.

Are you having someone else put it in for you?

Did I miss it?  What's the deal with the warranty claim?

Dealer is going to swap the motor. We are planning on leveraging a SSM that Ford put out, but won't be able to confirm until the engine is out and we confirm a broken skirt or cracked piston.

So the goal is to cover the engine swap under warranty and I walk a away with a motor under the hood and a spare in the box, lol.

if warranty coverage doesn't work out, I'll be covering the cost of the swap at a reduced rate and getting $1500 for the engine coming out of the truck as a core.

Talked through some options with the dealer, they think I'll be covered under warranty. There is a catch though, they HAVE to install the replacement motor that Fords sends them. Apparently the regional rep will verify the motor has the correct serial number installed in the truck.

So I'll likely end up with a new spare motor, but will have to cover the cost of the swap for my built motor. They will give me a deal on labor and see where they can cut corners on the the first motor swap.

It all sounds a bit crazy, but they gotta play by the rules and I understand that. I'll still be in a better place if I can get a brand new Ford motor to sell and offset the costs.

If for whatever reason, they can't pass the warranty claim, it's actually not too bad to pay for the swap with the discount they'll give me. All in all, it's crappy to have a motor fail, but I'm pretty happy with my chosen route.

Sounds like it's working out the best possible way it could.  It sucks you can't get straight to having your motor put in but oh well.  I imagine the rep may want to see it run.  So you can't just drop it in and bolt it down, let the rep check the number and see it in there, then pull it right back out.

So what do you think you can get for your new eco boost motor when you sell it?  That could really make a cool project for someone.

It will 100% have to run and leave the shop under it's own power with the Ford motor.

Truck goes under the knife next week. We'll know how it'a all gonna play out very shortly...

Our house has an accepted offer and should subjects should be off by next week. We have a offer out on the house we want to buy and I hope we get it signed by tomorrow. We move a bunch of stuff to storage next week and plan on closing dates for both houses to be Sept. 30th. A lot to do in very little time and all without my truck. I really wish I had it right now.

Time to go the pod route without the truck.  Fill them up and let someone else move it to storage.

All the moving companies around here have here have their own version of pods, so you can shop the price on pickup and retrieval of it ( them ? ).

Might be worth looking into it; sounds like you have a lot to move, and I don't know how many trips you would have needed with the truck to begin with.

It’s gonna be some work, that’s for sure. Due to the housing market cooling a bit here, we are short $40k of the planned budget. Doing everything we can to cut some costs out of the move.

All of our crap moved and I grabbed my still injured truck up on Friday. Since I am still  waiting on my engine, we aren't going to do anything with the truck till then.

It was really nice to drive it again, I actually missed it.
