I to move things around on the panels a bit to get everything to fit. Just need some quick fist mounts for the shovel and we are all set. Only downside with this config is that the Jerry can blocks one of the tie down points. So I may try to move it a bit once I know exactly how I will get the shovel mounted.

Also bagged up my basic recovery gear stuff. Instead of buying the “kit” for $360, I pieced this together for about $140.

I keep a couple of “D” rings in the truck all the time as the recovery strap always sits behind the seat.

I'm sure you saw the pics on Facebook, I'll get them up here too. I am very happy with how this truck has turned out.

Other than some cosmetic stuff, this truck is all but done. Who knows though I guess, I may always get it under my skin that it needs to be lifted or a built motor. :uugly:

Those pics were killer.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous.

I’m not gonna lie, if the budget allowed it I would be buying a Raptor and swapping over a few things. But I can’t see that happening as we are talking about buying a different house and moving to be closer to family.

Well, I guess I'm going to have to find some budget to do something as the motor started to knock on the drive back from Seattle last night.

Either I build a motor for it (get someone to professionally build one) or trade it in and let the dealer fight with warranty.

This is gonna be a tough call as I already know it's not likely that a Ford regional rep will look at my truck and give me the thumbs up on warranty coverage. I talked with some tech friends and they say Ford has gotten even worse over the last couple of months for approving warranty claims.

Heart breaking, man!  Do you think it was tune related?

It certainly is possible, but more likely the amount of HP it's making. Anything over 425whp is taking a gamble. I rolled the dice and now gotta take my lumps, lol.

The tuner is a very good and well known tuner. We were tinkering around with a few things, but being pretty careful to do it in increments.

I say build it!  It's gotta be more cost effective than the loss you will take trading it and the time to tear down and possibly part out.  Buy can you be without the truck in the meantime?

It’s looking more like that’s the way to go. Need to get some final numbers from the engine builder next week and then the wife and I’ll decide what to do. It would be the cheapest option in the long run for sure and I really like this truck.

I could get away with not having a truck for a couple months (sucks that it will mess with the camping trips we had planned). I will need some sort of wheels though. Probably pick up a beater for a few grand and then just sell it to get some money back when the truck is drivable again.

You know the saying...

Fix it until it breaks and back off one.  You now know where the mark is for backing off one.

Dumb question time for me...  Does your motor have the VCT like the 5.4L N/A motor ?

If nothing else, you could start with a Livernois built short block.
The pro series is 5,800.00 US and the race series is 8,000.00.
- Both versions have the oil holes modified for increased flow.  :dunno:
