It made it!
« on: April 10, 2015, 10:12:15 AM »
My uncle arrived in style with the new ride last night.

New old stock 2014 FX4. It is nicely loaded up with heated and cooled seats (a nice feature as I discovered).

It is dirty as it just made a 600+mile journey to get here, but I'll post up more pics once I get it cleaned up.

I also have a level kit on order (2" up front and 1.5" rear), that will hopefully show up here in the next couple of weeks or so.

Nice!  Congrats on the ride!  Holy sticker shock though.  That's insane.  Obviously it's before rebates and what not but still.  Trucks have gotten out of hand.

Thanks Guys! I'm very excited to get a new truck.

I have to fly out on Monday, but hope to do a prep detail on it next weekend.

I am open to any suggestions for a new vehicle prep. I did get some fluid film for some bits underneath and inside of door bottoms and such.

Tell me about it ..   When we looked at replacing the Expedition, the new ones were $63k ..   insane for an SUV.

Yup. The new Expeditions weren't at the new car expo but the Tahoe they had on hand, which I didn't know until after I got out, was almost $73k.  You can buy some nice vehicles for that.

It is getting beyond reason and why I couldn't pull the trigger on a 2015. At least with this one, I did get it for less than what I could find the same 2014 used. Manufacturing rebates are deep on the 2014's right now.

Nice truck!!

It's not just the new vehicle prices that are getting out of hand. I got the bug a couple of months back for something new to me. I started looking around for an Fx4 '12 and up the, asking price was right around $40,000 with around 50,000 miles. I couldn't do it. If I'm going to spend that much money for something second hand I'll add a bit more and get something brand new with full warranty.

I paid less for my new Fusion Hybrid titanium than the insurance gave me for my totaled 2010 Expedition EL with 69k on the clock.

Bonus is that is only runs $17 a week on gas.

I looked at a used 2011 F250 Lariat Crew and they wanted $51,000 for it I think I'm going to keep the ole grey beast and spend some money on making it look nice again.

Just a heads up for some of you as it might be an option but, trucks are way cheaper to purchase in Canada. You have the added bonus of a strong dollar against the loonie as well.

There are a ton of businesses that are now specializing  in getting vehicles imported into the states. It might just be something to look at. :dunno:
