1957 Chevrolet 210 - Paint Correction and Gloss Enhancement
« on: March 05, 2015, 10:27:25 AM »
So I'm gonna keep this one simple and let the pics speak for themselves.

I was not sure when I booked this car if it was base/clear or single stage.
Sadly, the car looked like it had been washed 100 times with a Brillo pad.
I choose HD Adapt as the polish candidate. It works with both paint types.

Process:
Wash: 2 bucket method, Incredimitt wash mitt and Iron-X Snow soap
Decon: Iron-X, Nanoskin Fine with Optimum No Rinse for a clay lube
Compound: Rupes 21ES, 5" Carpro Flash Pad & HD Adapt Compound
Polish: Rupes 21, LC 5" Hydro-Tech Red foam pads & Carpro Reflect
Small Areas: PC, Carpro 3 1/2" Flash, LC 4" Red CCS & Unigrit 3" BP
LSP: PERL on tires. Coli 845 on Chrome. Blackfire WD on Paint areas

Hood Before

Hood After

And along came a new brother (with 5 miles on the ODO)

The End

Thanks for looking.

Merlin,

Looks flat out awesome! How many days did it take to detail that bad boy?

Note to self: Acquire palm tree for future reflecto shots.

That is absolutely stunning.  It looks like it was a PITA to work on though.  So much chrome and so many curves.  Very nice work!

Tom, it's hilarious you mention the palm trees because even subconsciously I think I've always thought reflection shots look better with palm trees in them.  I don't know if it's the idea behind more tropical weather or if it's really just the overall shape of the tree which provides great light contrasts.  Maybe I'm just making stuff up.  I don't know.

And our chances of keeping a Palm Tree alive up where we live are? Zero. I wonder if one of those inflatable trees looks as good reflected in a hood?

How ridiculous would it look sticking out of an 6 foot snow pile in the yard?

Tapatalkin...

Probably about the same as a fake 6 foot foam snard. Not that I would know what that looks like of course.
