2008 Ford Edge Limited
« on: July 30, 2014, 10:21:45 PM »
A "Quickie" on my in-laws 2008 Edge Limited. They bought it new in 2007 (ordered it) and it hasn't ever seen wax or a real good clean up since new. I wanted to give the inside a quick clean-up, clean up the outside and hit the paint with the Meg's MF kit.

Products used:
 - Meg's MF kit (finishing MF pad subbed for a Green Super Buff pad)
 - Dodo Juice Iron out
 - Spray and Rinse
 - Meg's HD
 - EZ Detail Brush
 - Meg's Gold Class Car Wash
 - Meg's MF mitt
 - Grit Guards
 - Blue Clay (Can't remember where it came from :dunno:)
 - ONR @ QD Ratio
 - Opti Clean @ 2:1 and 4:1

First up was a Two-bucket wash and made good use of the 2500psi Gas Pressure washer. Paint was hit with DoDo Juice and the wheels hit twice with Spray and Rinse. The wheels needed to be hit with a brush and Spray and Rinse the second time around to really make a dent in the caked on crud. Whole car was then washed down and rinsed off well. Wheel wheels hit with soft brush (yes, they did get washed on this one!). Floor mats were scrubbed with Opti-Clean @ 2:1.

I rolled it out of the sun and into the garage. Interior was vacuumed out and carpet was spot scrubbed with Opti-Clean @ 4:1 and a carpet brush and then sucked up as best possible with a shop vac. All plastics were wiped down with Opti-Clean @ 4:1 and a cheap MF, a brush was used in a few spots. All trim was followed up with Meg's HD @ 4:1 with a MF.

Paint was clayed with the "Blue Clay" and ONR. Thanks to the DoDo Juice I was really just getting the left over Tar. If I had brought Tarminator, I would have probably just used that during the wash. Paint was first hit with the Bigfoot and a 5" Meg's  "Cutting" MF pad and the "Meg's Correction Compound". It worked very, very well on the Rupes. I forgot my MF "Finishing" pads in the storage locker, so I used the "Finishing wax" with a 6" green SuperBuff Pad. It worked Pretty OK, but I think the MF pad or even a firmer "AIO" pad would have allowed me to work a little quicker.

Plastic trim and wheel wells hit up with HD. Tires sprayed with Meg's Hot Spray tire shine.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with just putting in 6 hours on it. The wheels came out way nicer than I expected them too. the few scratches that were there came out or are much less noticeable.

I like that ..

One of these days I need to give the Meg's MF stuff a shot.  I still haven't used it on anything.

Wow, that looks really, really nice. Great turn around! I'll bet the owner was thrilled.

As for the Meg's MF system, I still haven't made the leap. Shrugs.

Looks awesome but who else is going to point out the obvious flaw?

We were all being cool about it.  No need to start busting on the tape job ( or lack of it )  :slow:

I figured that since it was "be kind to your neighbors from the north week," I'd keep my mouth shut. Besides, I've made the exact same mistake.

It was a bit of a rush and I was exhausted from fishing all day. I won't let it happen again. ..

And you can be sure nobody here will let it happen again either.  :uugly:

Who here has not done this at least 10 times over the years.

First person to raise their hand, I am going to suggest jumping in the lake, to douse the flames on their pants. :funny:

And all I was saying....was that it appears that the front air dam didn't get any dressing.

LOL

BOOM.   I miss that on the EXPY all the time.  I just washed it and I hit the spare with HD and I missed the rear suspension arms, drives me crazy
