Watkins Glen
« on: June 22, 2014, 06:06:04 AM »
Its dead around here.  It seems everyone is doing something other than detailing.  Myself included.  This weekend for my girlfriends birthday I took her to Watkins Glen for a little getaway.  Its beautiful here.  Thought I'd share a few pics from yesterday.  I started off by surprising her with a hot air balloon ride at sunrise.  We then hiked the Watkins Glen State Park.  After that we had dinner lakeside with some wandering around thrown in.

Mike,

Glad you enjoyed the Glen. It's a great little town and a pretty neat lake. I'll be down there in a few weeks for a Poker Run in my boat - with 30 or 40 of my closest go fast boating buddies. Well start about half way down the lake on the west side at the hotels. Then we'll head all the way to the north end, all the way to the south end and finally co e back to the hotels. (That's about 65-70 miles.) I can't wait!

Tom

PS: My princess might even make it up for the run.

Great pictures Mike!

Sure looks like a beautiful area! I would love to get up in a balloon again, I was only up once as a kid and thought it was awesome.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Thanks guys.  I'm home now but it was a really great weekend.   Beautiful area.  This morning we checked out and drove over to Ithaca.  We went to Robert Treman State Park.  Passed on Buttermilk Falls since we had a 3.5 hour drive home yet.  Pics to follow.

Tom, that sounds like a great time.  We want to go back with friends since we had so much fun and for them to experience it.

Looks like you guys had a great time, that was a lot of action in a weekend.
- Good thing you are back to work today to rest up  :redneck:

You are right, the last actual details I can recall were the new Jeep and the white monster ( with a bit of clay vs wet sand "in your face" testing ).  I know I have not done anything more than quick polish and LSP on vehicles.  Kind of shameful for me.  I don't think I will get to OC on the G6 until the 4th of July.
- Tree removal and planter changes in the front yard are taking all my time right now.

Mike, those are awesome photos, looks like you guys had a blast.

Hot Air Balloon...um no thank you.

She doesn't have any vision issues right?    Just wondering.

Thanks for visiting the Cafe, come back often.  There's always something new!

Jason, until you experience a balloon flight, you ha e no idea what you're missing.  So calm, serene.  You're so stable in the air and there is no reference point (like a ladder appearing to get smaller at the bottom as you climb higher) so there is no fear of the height.  Everyone should do it once.

Tom, have you ever done the 54A drive around Keuka Lake?  I read somewhere it's one of the top 15 scenic drives anywhere.  I enjoyed the area so much I want to visit again and expand through the area some more.

Mike,

Keuka Lake is hands down the most beautiful of the Finger Lakes. (In fact my mother asked to have her ashes placed in that lake because she loved it so much.)

I've never driven all the way around the lake in one trip, but have been all around it on various boat deliveries over the years. Plenty of nice places to stop and three cute little towns, one at each if the three tips of the Y shaped lake. I think you'll like it.

Tom

Thanks, Tom.  Sounds like something I need to look in to a little more.  Its hard narrowing down where to go.  Beautiful region.
