It's update time! This was about a month ago

Well I decided that after the harsh winter we had and the bad engineering on my part that lead to the walls collapsing it was time to renovate my backyard pond.

Key points were to redo the waterfall so it looked nice and also to slope all the sides of the pond away from the pond so I did not get anymore dirt in it when rain happened.

Onto the pics.

Here you can see the sorry state it was in after the winter.... fish did not mind in the least and actually loved hiding in the fallen rocks but it was not pretty

Here you can see the old waterfall removed (took a lot of work as they were placed with an excavator and are very heavy for two people)

Wall reconstructed

Digging out and cleaning up the waterfall filter as well as getting the dirt out from behind the liner that water ran in.

More progress

Old walk up to the pond

New walk up that has rocks that you can step on and get right up to the ponds edge but safely haha

New Waterfall construction beginning

Bought two new fish bringing the total to 13 (the white one is a Gin Rin Platinum Ogon for those into Koi)

Waterfall dry

Waterfall wet

Up and running!

More to come as I finish up the edging and entrance to the pond. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I also got a smaller pump (4,000 gph from 5,200 gph because it was just too loud of a waterfall, now it is perfect)

Thanks for looking! :)

This is today

**Update**

So I have done lots of progress on the pond and I'm pretty much done!

Made a retaining wall under the swing set to keep the dirt nice and level up at the top

One of the stones from the previous waterfall fail has now become a beautiful step up to the seating area

Dirt leveled out

Mulch put on top

Mulch all around and some plants

Picked up some tropical elephant ears in a variety of styles for marginal plants

Tropical water lillies

Found a new favorite tree to hang over the pond. This is a specimen Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar and was kinda expensive but I feel in love with the way it looks!

Planted!

The finished product! It really has pulled together and is so enjoyable to sit by

Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think

Dude, that looks great!

I just love sitting somewhere where you can hear moving water, very relaxing.

The only issue I have is seeing all those rocks gives me flashbacks as a kid, walking up and down the field picking rocks and throwing them in the tractor bucket behind me as my pops followed. :redneck:

I like the way you left just enough space beside the park bench for a cooler full of cold beer.  :funny:

On a more serious note (as if I'm capable of that), it looks awesome.

Looking really nice....you  need black berry bushes on that chain link fence now.

Thanks!

RR I've got some decorative grasses that will go along it and block the filter box and the fence =)
