For the past year, I have been preparing a packet to become an Army Nurse, and earn a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. I completed over 40 hours of college, and assembled a mass of paperwork and recommendations.
The deadline was 30 June, meaning effectively it was Today. After spending 3 months back and forth with the Aviation Branch Manager, I have not received the one final thing holding my packet up. It took calls and emails from my first sergeant (big boss) to even get the action started.
Moving forward, I am thankful for the help I received and the humility I gained from the hard work involved. I suspect I will try again next year, but right now I am pretty dang bummed out. Sometimes it doesn't matter how much grease you put on the gears, they just won't turn.
This does give me more time to pursue some other opportunities, and focus my efforts on the current mission. Still, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't upset.
