Bed is finally lined!
« on: May 24, 2013, 04:35:02 PM »
I finally got my bed lined.  I wish I had before pictures because without them the afters don't do it justice.  They did an awesome job filling the holes and hiding all of the previous owners stupid crap.

Looks Great Mike. Nothing quite like a fresh sprayed bed to clean up a truck!

Looks very nice. HYou going to leave it like that or add a rubber mat to the bed?

I was planning on just leaving it like that.  No mat.  Do you recommend against that?  I don't really haul anything serious back there.  On rare occasions an additional four wheeler if we have more than three to transport.

Jason, its neither Rhino or Line-x.  Its a product called Ultimate Linings. The place started out doing Rhino many years ago but when Rhino sold out to every Tom, Dick, and Harry and I believe changed hands, the whole thing went downhill.  They switched to Ultimate Linings and said its a much better product that they're happier with and even mentioned something about Line-X but I don't remember what it was.  I know their color matching fades he says. It something else as well.  Ultimately he said a lot ofnitnis in the prep work and the completely sand everything down and degrease.  They drill out drain holes larger to compensate for thickness of the material.

Next up is a tonneau cover.  We do a lot of hiking with friends, even in the rain, so I need some protection for all of our bags plus for luggage on long trips.  I have my eye on the Access Limited Edition.  Only downside is its over $500.

I don't see any need for a mat given how you are going to use it.

As an alternative to a tonneau, take a look at this.  I am using one now and absolutely love it.   I keep it in my tool box, but it would store just as easily in the cab.

Tuff Truck Bag.  They are available on Amazon or from Tuff Truck.

I would probably end up using the tonneau a lot.  I tend to throw my gym back and overnight bag, both of which I carry daily, in the bed.  And I have no room in the cab to store that cleanly because of the sub and amps under the back seat.  That looks pretty neat though. Just a hassle for constant access.

OK so I ordered the Access Limited Edition tonneau.  I was looking around and while browsing different websites I came across autoanythings website.  Something popped up with 20% off and I couldn't turn it down.  Even overnighted it to have it by this weekend for a trip and it still cost $75 less than if I bought it at regular price.  Free shipping was offered though.

Sounds like a great deal. Looking forward to seeing a pic of it installed.

That is lucky Mike, I think Autoanything is the most overpriced place on the web.

I received it yesterday.  I got a chance (more like made time) to install it today.  I'm very happy with it.  I didn't install the tailgate seal yet and don't know if I'm going to or not.  We will see.  Its much nicer than I had anticipated.  I will get a picture or two tomorrow.  It was dark when I finished the install.  There aren't enough hours in the day.
