Holograms?..
« on: April 23, 2013, 09:35:40 PM »
Hello everyone!

So I just bought my second 350z this last Saturday. After having sold my old one a couple summers ago..
Well anyway, I was looking over the paint yesterday and there seem to be what i think are holograms.

Looking across the paint there are several "shiny" spots that look like a lot of bar lights going across in a few places. I'm not sure what this is or what its from since if never came across it before.
 :hp:
Anyone have suggestions on how to remove these or atleast make them less of an eyesore?
Note: I don't have any rotary tools or da polishers at the moment.

Thanks!

See if you can get some pics of them out in the sun.

By hand you're not going to be able to do much about actually fixing them. You might be able to get away with covering them up with a glaze though. Actually removing them is going to require a machine.

Where are you located?  Are you close enough to one of us to get some help?

Thought I recalled it in the intro forum:

 Poteau, OK

too far for me, I don't have OK in my territory  :redneck:

I was thinking it was someplace I was familiar with .. just couldn't remember.

Too far for me to drive, but if you want to come to OKC in July when I am there I'd be happy to help.

Might have well have asked which is better Democrat or Republican  :redneck:

At the moment I am either Optimum Hyper compound & Hyper Polish or Poorboys World Pro Polish depending on the work being done.

If I am correcting I go with the Optimum hyper twins on the Optimum MF cutting and polishing pads and then follow up with Pro Polish on a Lake Country black pad ( finishing pad ).

If I am just doing an in between polish ( between corrections ) I just go with PB Pro Polish on a  Blue pad.

At times I will stray from this, and use Por Polish on a more aggressive pad for correcting, depends on what I am up against.  Hyper twins on MF pad sets seems to cover just about anything that I run into, but I am a DIY friends and family weekender, not a pro or semi pro like the others on here.

As far as LSP, I use quite a few, but the truck now has Menz Power Lock on it, due to the miles I am putting on it.  Need something that will last.

When I had the company vehicle I would go with Poorboys Nattys blue ( 3 layers with Black hole between coats ) or there was a few months of testing where it had 3 or 4 products on it, but this is not all the time.

This is just what I do best with right now.  Before options, I used an Orange Pad with Meg's #81 hand polish.  I did not have a defect I could not remove with that, but they were never serious, and it just took time.

I have some Poorboys SSR line ( 2.5, 2 and 1 ) and some Menz polishes if you want to try them.
Just PM me an address, and I can get it sent off to you when you are ready.

- All I ask in return is that you donate the shipping costs to the women's crisis center in your area, and if you have some clothes or items you don't need see if they have a resale shop to donate them to.

Now there's the answer we've all been waiting for!  :redneck:

Pics would be nice though.

BTW, search for thread called Common Detailing Problems and there are some pics of holograms there.
