Wheel Wells
« on: March 08, 2013, 08:31:20 PM »
What do the experts use when cleaning wheel wells.  I've seen black paint used, and also the foaming cleaners you buy off the shelf in auto parts stores...what do y'all use.

I just use an all purpose cleaner and agitate with a brush and spray off.  Then I dress them with Meg's Hyper Dressing.

If they are real bad, I used PB APC mixed 10:1 ( normal for me is 15:1 with some 12:1 for dirty interiors ).

The "dressing" as it were, I used Optimum Opti Seal one time on the Mrs' G6, and it turned out great.

In the spring I am going to remove a wheel and clean the snot out of one of the wheel wells, and Opti Coat 2.0 it, to see how it does.

Opti Seal is the wipe on walk away sealant, Opti Coat is the perm paint coating.
- It is marked as fine to use on plastic, I just want to test one to see how it goes before doing all 4 of them.

Going with Opti Coat on the plastic "nurf bars" ( GM uses plastic rocker covers to stop / hide the rust at the bottom on her '07 G6 ) in the spring.

X2 on that!

And just because you noticed that wheel wells are important, you get 25 TDC Brownie Points! Yes, just cleaning and dressing them makes a huge difference.

Someday we'll figure out how we're going to let people spend them too!
