interesting delimma
« on: October 04, 2012, 08:21:41 AM »
First of all...hi again  ...so i ran into an interesting detailing delimma.  I dont have a picture but it deals with an 07 mercury mariner which im sure most of youare familiar wjth how they are laid out.  The lady has kids and on the back door panel on one of the cloth pieces the kid took a stamp amd stamped all over it.  Im pretty sure i cannot use anything to abrasive becausr the material is fairly thin.  I did try apc+ cut 10:1...and that did nothing.. any suggestions?

my ink remedy ..

1 cup water, 2 teaspoons or so white vinegar, 1 tablespoon dawn.  Mix it together ..    then blot it on the stain .. don't rub ..   once it starts breaking up the ink, you can gently rub to make it go faster, but be careful not to spread the ink .

Hairspray also works ..  but can cause some ink to run badly when you use it ..  I normally only use hairspray on fabric I can remove

Gip,

Do you have some sort of magical cookbook with all of these wonderful concoctions in it? That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!

I'm also thinking some of this stuff should go in our Common Detailing Problems thread. Any takers?

I would think the alcohol in hair spray is what removes the ink. Might want to go directly to rubbing alcohol.

I've heard about using hairspray for ink on leather too but have never tried it.

Those of you that have used it what is your process?
