Ghetto Body work
« on: October 01, 2012, 02:48:15 PM »
Since the purchase of the Edge, I decided that we didn't need the Mazda anymore. It ended up going to my friends little sister back home and they flew out on the weekend to drive it back. I figured I  could clean up the bumper a little bit before they came to pick it up.

The damage was caused by me running over the wash bucket while washing the car.  :dope: The paint chipped and peeled right off the painted plastic bumper. I always want to clean it up, but never got around to it.

Here is the before:

After sanding with 400 Grit Sandpaper:

After paint and clear coat:

I let the paint cure for a week and then wet-sanded with 2000 grit to better blend it in and then polished with 105 followed by 205:

Overall it turned out pretty good, You can see that the blacks are not the exact same color, but it blends in decent and isn't in a very noticeable spot.

That's exactly what I was telling myself as I started sanding...

It's also a used car with a "Rebuilt" title.
