Finally took the plunge...
« on: August 26, 2012, 10:43:21 PM »
Bought a new (to me) car. It's been a long while since I have even had vehicle payments, but I couldn't pass up the deal.

It's a 2011 Edge Limited, full load with moonroof, etc. Only has 12,000km's (7500 miles) I am tied up the next three weekends, so no detail for a while. I sure am loving the gauges and sync.

Sweet looking ride! I've always liked the way the Edge looked. And of course, I love the color!

Thanks!

I figured you would like the color. It's not Oxford white, More of a metallic cream. I could had a black one, but decided against it.

Trust me, you won't regret it for a minute!

I have a 1200 mile road trip coming up this weekend, so I hit the front clip with clay and a quick coat of Ultimate Wax. Hopefully the bugs will come off easier this way. There ia a lot of contaminants in the paint like rail dust, tar and other crap. The white Meg's Clay (I know it's really mild) wasn't getting most of it.

Any suggestions when I go to do a proper detail? I was thinking IronX and/or a more aggressive clay.

I took some time to asses the paint with a bright LED flashlight and the sun. Paint looks pretty low on the swirl/marring scale and I can't see any holograms, so I am hoping the paint was pretty much left alone.

Really looking forward to spending some real time on the paint.

Congrats.  I love Edge's .. they are very comfortable vehicles.

IronX or a more aggressive clay, whichever you have handy would work ..

I usually keep Megs Blue and Poorboys clay handy at all times. I have some purple but only use that for tough spots.

Congrats on the new ride.

Thanks for visiting the Cafe, come back often.  There's always something new!

Thanks Guys, I will have to order up some supplies anyway, so I might give Steve a call for a few things.

I am just about to head out now, I have 600 miles to cover today...

First Road trip was really good with the new ride. Very smooth and quiet, spent a lot of time just trying to figure out all the Sync crap and Voice activation stuff. Pretty cool.

The drive out to Calgary driving around and back totaled just over 1500 miles...

Now I just need so time to detail it, hopefully before the end of the month!
