Car show prep
« on: August 04, 2012, 09:05:57 PM »
I'll be participating in my first car show next weekend and want to make sure I have everything covered. Any suggestions on things to do that might not be obvious? Any other tips?

Thanks

Well you might want to floss the Door hinges, I hear it's important for your vehicles health... :redneck:

Spray and wipe (or whatever product you prrfer) the engine bay.  There is surprisingly a lot of paint in there.  Plastics too in there. Dress them.  Hyper dressing works awesome for that because you can just spray sprayed it in the hard to reach areas and leave it be.  Door jambs and sills.  Inside the trunk around the latches and shocks, spray and wipe those as well.  Those are the easy ones to over look but make a night and day difference.  Everything else is par for the course.

Make sure the underbody of the car is clean, you can lose some points in you don't clean underneath.

A couple pics as I get the car ready. Have to take a break to run to the store and pick up some more Tarminator. The inside of my wheels have quite a bit of tar/asphalt stuck to them.

Not sure I deserve to be called a master, but I appreciate the compliment.

I like the way you detailed the brake caliper from one side of the rotor to the other. That's why you're the master!  :nw:

Looks awesome Harold!

Very, Very nice! Have you considered Painting the calipers and rotors (not where the pads contact obviously) Black? I painted mine a couple of years ago and surprisingly with the mountain driving, they still look pretty good.

Doing this a little at a time since the show isn't until next weekend.

Front wheel well.

Here's what the back side of all the wheels look like. I hit one patch of freeway that had tiny pieces of asphalt spread over it. No lane was clear of it, and I have to drive about a mile before I could get off it. And the freeway is concrete in that area.  :bitch:

Ever think of painting the rotor hats while you have the wheels off?

I thought about it, but will probably be upgrading the brakes soon so I decided not to.

Also, I just read in the rules the they will only allow you to display your car indoors if you have less than 1/8 tank of fuel. The car is currently full.
