Business Cards
« on: July 06, 2012, 08:49:25 AM »
Where are you guys getting your business cards?  I'm looking for a 'standard' design that is reflective of detailing.  Doesn't have to be super flashy but, I'm missing all kinds of opportunities right now because I haven't had new ones printed for my new location (moved about 3 hours from previous location).

I get mine from Vistaprint.com. I've been very happy using them.

Thanks, Doug.  I ended up buying from Vistaprint as well.  They're not super schnazzy but, for what I need and the volume that I do, it'll work.  (yours look sharp)

I need a website.... or, at least a domain.

I have been happy with them.  Having my own logo made it easier, for sure.

I need to do more to develop my website.  Just can't find the time.

And I for one really like that logo. Classy!

As for me, I not only need a logo, I need a business name, business cards, time and maybe a life.

Well, if that guy Kitty cat or whatever he is called would show up, he is pretty good with the logo stuff.

I think we have a few other members in the graphic arts area too.

Thanks for visiting the Cafe, come back often.  There's always something new!

I need to get a 'real' logo.  Guy made one for me 8 or so years ago... I finally found the jpg image and simply don't like it now (yes, I had forgotten what it looked like).

You know it can't be this one :

- That is the product manufacture's logo... Cheesey as it is. :wow:

Myself I have never been a fan of an actual logo that needs to be reproduced ( which can be a challenge ).   This does not appeal to me ( on many fronts )

- If these are the clowns in Downers Grove IL, it is fitting that they have a bad logo, they do bad work.

Picking a more standard font for the name, and try a staggered look to it on 2 lines to see what you think.  This way when you want to do something with the logo ( flyers, etc ) it will be much easier.

You can go to the extreme like Megs, but the font can get messy unless you spend the money for high res graphics.

Take a look at the "logo" that Justin uses on his products.
He has the open circle around the words, which does not busy it up.

The last 2 places I hated doing logo selection, made me cross eyed, and it was a non core task that took way too much time in my book.

Take a try at a few fonts.
If you want to make it different and go all in with a graphics logo, maybe have the "The" be portrait orientation in front of 2 lines that have Final & Detail ???
Quick shot at it

This is just a 3 second jpg to try to show what I am talking about.... I do not do this for a living. :redneck:

I appreciate it, Steve.  I like the last concept... the product logo looks very 80's to me.  I may poke around and give it a whirl on my own.  Graphics aren't my bag but, I can at least come up with a concept or two that maybe could then be improved upon by someone who actually does it.

My company's name is "The Final Detail".  More than anything, it was named after my favorite product... cheesy but, true.  Getting a domain that matches it has been challenging (and not yet successful).... I'll get there.  I'm a small outfit and have to reestablish myself in this area.  I've basically left behind all of my regular clients and will have to start fresh now (although, one of them is driving down (about 2.5 hours) next month.  :)

The "Tron" letter from the product manufacture is pretty bad.
I had never heard of it until I started poking around for ideas on fonts, just happened to find it via google.

Take a look at Justin's logo for simplicity ideas.
If you can drum up a text only logo, that makes it dirt easy to reproduce you will be money ahead.

Given you got the name from FD-51 ( think that is what you are talking about ), but cannot get a domain name, you might want to use this chance to change the name, based upon a domain name you can get.

Spelled incorrectly on purpose - you get the idea.
The Coil Detail ??
Coil Final Detail ???
The Coil Final Detail

I'd suggest staying away from Coil's Final Detail as not everyone knows just to drop the ' to get to the Web site ( some find it intuitive others do not ).

Those that are willing to drive 2.5 hrs to have work done, know how to find you.
Steve
