fiberglass wax
« on: June 11, 2012, 02:49:39 PM »
I need a good off the shelf wax recommendation for my RV.  I washed today and realized I don't have any wax suitable for fiberglass.  I need something for a fiberglass exterior and preferably something that is could for plastic trim as well so I can hit it all at once.

Would something like NXT 2.0 be bad for this application?  I have a ready supply of it.

Thanks in advance guys.

Actually, yes...I do have about a half bottle of OptiSeal.  Didn't think of that.  Only issue is I have a LOT of surface area to cover so I was hoping to use my DA.

I have not seen that application method.  I use 4"x6" MF pads to apply it as a general rule.

I have been doing some research for Dad's Itasca, and I am going with Opti Coat 2.0.
I am down to finding a place I can set it up at for a week while I do the correction and application.
- I am sick of doing 38' of RV every year.

That is the other option Opti Coat 2.0 it, so you don't have to do it again.

If you feel brave enough you can go with the HVLP application method of it.  I have only done 2 applications, so I am not feeling that good with it yet.
I am going to use a 4" LC HT pad & Holder for applying it to the RV.  I have used sections out of a 5.5" one for my truck with good results.  That pad type does a great job of not soaking up all the product, without needing to do the blue shop towel method.

Thanks for the reply man.  I might look into the 2.0 sometime; sounds like a good option.  I ended up going with some Meg's #56......found it on the shelf at a boat store down the street from my house.

I would suggest going with the Opti Coat 2.0 as well.  Might take a lot of time to do, but it will be well worth it.  Very nice durability and looks great.  The RV will also be easier to keep up with the Opti Coat on it.

Dad is checking with people on where he can leave the RV for a week, once I get to that point I'll let you know.  Going with 100 cc as a starter, that should get me through most of it.
