Dave,

It's shamefull that you would have to stoop so low as to drive a Chevy to enter the contest. Oh, where have we failed?  :dunno:

Nice snards though.

I may have to take up drinking. But wait, the judging will begin soon. There's yet another reason to drink.

That just brings a tear to my eye. Sniff, sniff. I don't think we got enough snow to fill our loader bucket this year. Still hoping for one big, last dump though!

BTW, your pusher was made about 10 minutes from my house.

I thought you would like that. That was from the storm we got last Wednesday and we got a total of 24in in less than 24 hours. I thought you would appreciate seeing a local product being put to work.

OK folks, Dave and I have decided to put a deadline in for 2012 entries. I'd love to say that we're doing this because we have so many to judge, but it's more like we're giving up on Old Man Winter. Apparently he's been off on Cancun and had a few too many of those drinks with little umbrellas in them.

So you've got just under 3 more weeks to submit your world beating entry. And although this international (because Canada is involved) competition is rapidly coming to a close, don't think that some of the crusty old vererans have shown all of their cards just yet. Evil laugh.

Just as winter was winding down and I thought I had absolutely no hope of winning the prestigious 2012 TDC Snard Contest, Mother Nature intervened with a storm of truly biblical proportions. Not only was it extremely violent, but extremely concentrated too. In fact the blizzard wasn?t much larger than my trusty F-150, and followed me wherever I went.

Think of that for a moment folks. Take a typical ?Nor Easter? blizzard that usually socks in the entire east coast and concentrate it down to one 20?x20? patch. It was horrific I tell you! Winds gusting up to 300 MPH, snowflakes the size of basketballs, black ice, blue ice, and snowdrifts the size of ocean liners.

And then I got a phone call. It was the Mayor / Police Chief / Veterinarian / Pharmacist for Deliverance, NY (Population 12) and he had a big problem. It seems that the town?s Hospital / General Store / Filling Station / Beauty Parlor / Tack Shop / Casino was out of a highly specialized medicine that was needed to keep little Cindy Loo Hoo alive in their Intensive Care Unit / Cigar Shop / Quick-Lube bay. And only I had a truck capable (and clean enough) to get it to them in time to save poor little Cindy.

What could I do? I couldn?t say no. So, I dropped the truck into 4Lo and literally plowed my way out of my garage. With my son standing on the hood shoveling snow off as we drove, I navigated through a combination of GPS, dead reckoning and dumb luck to the landing site for the Medivac helicopter which was forced down due to the snow around my truck. We carefully transferred the cooler with the medicine (and some Slim Jims for the mayor) to my truck and we continued on ? for what seemed like days.

Finally (17 minutes later) we pulled into the hospital to the cheers of, well, the dog barked. (And there was this strange banjo music playing ?) Anyway, Brandon and I then trudged through the blinding snow to deliver the cooler to the waiting doctor just in the nick of time. Not only did Cindy survive, but the mayor said he?d take care of that speeding ticket I had from ?79 because we actually got his favorite flavor Slim Jim. The nurse was in tears, but she was also chopping onions for the sub somebody ordered.

When we emerged from the hospital, we noticed that the storm had magically subsided, but in its wake, a truly incredible group of snards had been left behind. And so, much like a horrific thunder storm leaves a beautiful rainbow in its wake, I give you my final entries for this year?s contest. (There?s a tear in my eye.)

First, here?s the snard that formed behind the front wheel. Not that it was so fragile that I had to gently support it before it broke off as it melted.

Next, here?s its mate that formed behind the rear wheel. (Note the family resemblance.) Again, gentle support was required. Note the highly unusual ?tail? that formed due to the high speeds we were traveling in order to save little Cindy.

There were also some other rather unusual snards that formed in other places on the truck due to the unrelenting ferocity of the storm. Here are the snards that formed behind the cab and from the mirrors. More than any other pictures, I think these capture the real (almost biblical) magnitude of the storm.

And so I humbly present these truly epic snards for consideration by the distinguished panel of international judges. (Dave drinks Molson beer.) Some will invariably argue that Photoshop was used to somehow alter these photos. And to those that allege this, I offer that I never went anywhere near any shops that sold photos. Others may argue that they?re unfair because of their size. I suggest that anybody who has an issue here should consult the contest rules ? if you can actually find them.
