I'm with TS on this one, I rent cars pretty often, 2 or 3 times a month and have never been a big fan of the newer Chrysler's. Mostly because they don't make a decent seat unless you're looking at an SRT and the interiors period are pretty lacking. I have always been a fan of the newer Nissan's like the Altima (Had a 2001 which was a great car) or Maxima, the newer fords like the 500 (good friend has an AWD which he loves) or the Taurus. I have been pretty impressed with my Mazda6 too, and it's based on the same platform as a Ford Fusion. I get 35mpg on the highway with my little 2.3L, So I don't see why you wouldn't with a Fusion.

Good luck car shopping!

My aunt has a 2009(?) Avenger, she really liked it and didn't have any problems with it at all. But she bought it brand new and it still only has 20,000 odd miles on it.

The one we're looking at is a 2009.  It has 26k or 36k miles on it.  I had a Dakota for 5 years and couldn't have had better luck with it.  I never had one mechanical problem with it that wasn't my fault...

Like the power steering pump I blew out cutting cookies in a parking lot.  Or the power steering pump that I blew out when I accident caught a little air over a set of railroad tracks...
