So I guess the best advice we can give you now is to go out and drive one!

He drove the 6.2 gas yesterday and liked it....noticed a considerable difference in feel and power.  He agrees with your opinion on Diesel, but he might only tow this trailer 8 to 10 times per year...not enough to justify the cost or need to go that route.  We'll see what happens.

If it helps you I tow my 5er at least once per month and sometimes 2 times per month...I like that new 6.2
Thanks for visiting the Cafe, come back often.  There's always something new!

Seems like Pappy likes it too.  For some reason, he doesn't like the Diesel.  He's just fretting that the 6.2 isn't going to be much better than his 150.  I told him he should notice considerable difference.

And get this, the dealer has agreed to put the order in for a truck of his choice....to his specifications.  Once they receive it, his is still not liable to purchase unless his 150 is sold first.  Dem country boys look out for you!!!!

From what you say about your dad and how often he tows - and what I've heard about that new 6.2, I think he'll be fine. Yes a diesel tows a ton better, but look at the price (and maintenance cost) premium for a diesel, and you really have to think about it.

The man is getting more indecisive in his old age.  I called him yesterday and asked him what he was doing.  He said....."test driving the diesel" :redneck:

He likes it.  I'll follow up once he makes up his mind.  :lurk"

You know what they say about power. Power corrupts, and diesel power ...
