Very nice pads...
« on: May 06, 2010, 01:02:01 PM »
I have a decent collection of 4" LC pads...some 3?" smooth Uber I think pads so I decided to try these out when I found out about them.  I mainly use small pads for tight places, small spots and headlight restorations.  Havent been a fan of Meg pads but...These small Meguiars pads are some of the best I have used.  I really like the mushroom shape and they seem to be very durable and well made.  No opportunity to try the wool pad yet but I think it may have better cut over and around contours because of the foam backing than the small PFW pads with just velcro backing.

I do like the shape of those. One of my biggest gripes is pad warpage in the opposite direction. Those would cure that.

Hrmmm...

My biggest problem with Meguiars pads has been the velcro backing separating from the foam during washing/cleaning.  I have balled these up in one hand numerous times in hot water and they seem indestructible and go back to the original shape.  These seem to be like the Newer versions of Megs pad materials.  Im waiting for an excuse to try that wool pad.  I had a pretty big learning curve with the PFW 4".

I need to get a smaller backing plate for one of my DA's so I can play with the little pads some more.

changing backing plates sucks.

where did you get those pads?

I keep the smaller plate on my G110V2 and use the Flex with the 5.5 backing plate for other areas.

Heres a noob question.  what do you use the wool pads for?
It's an all in one pad.  It has the same function as a medium and heavy cut foam pads (yellow, orange and maroon).
It also works better on irregular surfaces and it finishes up better with much less to no marring.
Usually when you use heavy cut pads you need to go back with a milder polish to remove marring before final polish.
With wool you can usually go right to final polish and depending on the product used you could go right to LSP if you are short on time.
Im still a noob also but thats my take and experience with them.
Others may have more technical and/or logical explanations so stay tuned.
