Too Stroked gets a New Truck
« on: October 25, 2009, 04:54:27 PM »
Well guys, I'm about 2 years (and 30,000 miles) behind my usual plan, and it was well past time to get a new truck. I was oh so close to buying another brand, but my Ford dealer (Shepard Ford in Canandaigua, NY) headed me off by ordering the exact truck I would have ordered - without me knowing about it. That and Tom Shepard put together a super deal, so it was time to leap.

I promised to share photos, but I only got one yesterday because I'm a little busy between traveling on my full time job and winterizing boats on my part time job. So here's a quick shot in the driveway after I brought the new toy home and my son and I quickly swapped out the butt ugly stock XLT wheels and replaced them with the 20's from my last truck. There's lots more work to do - like probably a week's worth of wiring - when I can find the time, but that will be a few weeks. Hope you guys approve!

This new truck is basically identical to the 2005, except it's got the 4.6 with the new 6 speed and a 3.73 LS rear end instead of the 3.55 LS. The difference is night and day - in a good way. The old truck was just plain clumsy in the bumps where this one sucks them right up. I towed a 21' Sea Ray 30 miles with it today and honestly could not tell the difference between the new 4.6 and my old 5.4. The new seat is hands down better than the old one and the Synch deal is pretty darn cool - even for an old coot like me.

Looking good.  Does that fit in the garage?

You know, I hadn't noticed that the picture kind of makes it look like it doesn't, but it does. In fact, I already checked it with the light bar on the roof and it clears by about 1.5 inches. I'm sure it will settle a little bit too.

Funny you should mention that - and I did. As I was taking it, all I could think was how ticked you were going to be. Sorry about that chief! I'll post that pic up somtime later this week.

Thanks for all of the nice comments guys!

Can't wait to see the new and the old. And yeah, what's the deal. I thought New York didn't have grass.

Yeah our grass is still green and will be slowly dying back before the *cough* snow starts falling.

Tom, nice looking wheels there and I can not wait to see it in person.  If you remember, my truck just cleared your garage door with the light bar on top :)

Tom, great looking F150 you got there.  I'm sort of an Ford F150 guy too.  However, I wouldn't be afraid of an 03-07 Chevy or GMC.  Really don't like the idea of supporting Obama motors nowadays though.  :die:

You have no idea how close I was to buying another brand due to the problems I had with my 2005, but my Ford dealer talked me into it. After driving it almost 500 miles in 3 days, I'm glad I bought it. I could go on and on about the differences between a very well cared for 2005 and this new truck. It's simply a night and day difference and mostly all for the better.
