Damage An Egg Can Cause

So Thursday night I was on my way home from hanging out with other car people that I haven't see in a long time.  It was rather late (11:45PM) and I was less than a mile from home.  All of a sudden I hear splat and notice that there's goo on my windshield.  I knew right then that some little bastard had thrown an egg at my car.  So I immediately busted a U-turn in the middle of a 6 lane road, to go back and find the culprit.  Of course he was long gone.
So I made another U-turn and headed for the pressure washer 1/2 a block away.  I get all of the remnants of the egg off the car and think that all is well.  Wrong answer.
When I got home this is what I found

So I went to the body shop and found out that the entire hood is going to have to be repainted.  It's going to cost me $500 to get it done.  Now I know some of you guys will say why won't that buff out?  Well the impact of the egg hitting the car just destroyed the clear and the paint.  It's already starting to peel and bubble.  :rant:
The car is going into the shop next week.

I saw these pictures on another forum.  That really sucks.  This is something that would happen to me.  Get the car back and then something stupid happens that puts it out of commission for a bit.

that really bites  :rant:  it happened to my mother's car last Gate night (night before halloween) and the paint is virtually gone  :bat:

That sucks, 2 months after I bought my truck the samething happen to me. The whole side of the bed had to be repainted. Just when you thing your getting ahead.

Still in the air about it.  Cost just drives me crazy.

Good to see the shop did a good job on the repair.

A week after we bought our F150 someone scratched it from the passenger side door all the way to the rear fender. 

Thankfully it was something that could be buffed out.
