Need some help on this one......
« on: April 27, 2009, 12:28:28 AM »
K guys this is my garage which is very small.  I want to empty it out as much as possible and renovate it to be much more usable and have a better setup for my detail supplies and storage.  I need to do something with the walls (insulation would be a nice start) not sure if I should cover with OSB or drywall.  Plus I don't know how I should lay it out to get the most out of the small space that I have.  I know it's not much to look at right now.  Throw your ideas at me big or small I need them all!!!

RR this on is for you!  I've only had it down once on the last two seasons and that was about a month ago.

Easy, give the bikes to RR and the chopper to me.  Instant space!  :mooner: :rn:

I would insulate, drywall, and seal the floor with U-Coat-It

add some good flourescent lighting and several outlets along all three walls.

add an through the wall AC unit on the back wall, and find someplace for a beer fridge ..

I would add cabinetsalong the wall by the house, both floor and wall to maximize space.  you can get well made, generic kitchen cabinets at Lowes or Home Depot fairly cheap, and then paint them to match ..

I like your thinking gipraw.  Are you talking like base cabinets with a counter then more above... like a kitchen?  I could fill the fridge up real quick.  I need to go get a shed built and eliminate most of that crap.  I've been thinking about painting the floor just to clean everything up nice.

Center Stage you ain't gettin' the Harley..... unless you've got $5500?  RR can have the Trek it's the cheap model anyway.  Good frame with garbage components.  Nice riding bike though. lol

I have a suggestion for the walls. Do the lower half of the wall in OSB so you dont destroy the drywall with car doors and other things falling on the drywall. I have drywall in my garage and the only thing about it that I regret is not doing is putting OSB on the lower half of the wall.

You know that gives me an idea.  If your going to do that then why not just use some bead board and cap it with chair rail to give a nice finished look.  I hope to God that my doors never hit the wall though!  :red:

I don't want to spend and arm & leg but do need to get it in shape sooner than later.

I don't need any more bikes, we have too many as it is.  LOL

How about floor some of the attic, move the stuff you don't use everyday up there for the "seasonal" storage.  You mentioned a shed, that would help.  Get the trash can out of the garage for sure.

I like the U-Coat it stuff, but haven't put it down yet...i need several days of good weather to do it and I hate having my cars outside.

Thanks for visiting the Cafe, come back often.  There's always something new!

I will go and take some pictures of my dads garage shop and garage if you want to see what it looks like before you do it.
