Title: Dud of a storm
Post by: Kitzy on March 07, 2018, 07:28:17 PM
Well our storm fizzled out.  So much for our 20" but it was still a good snowfall and the best part was it was the calmest winds I've seen in weeks and they were forecasting 40mph winds.  So when the flakes stopped falling it was time to start flying.  Unfortunately it was getting late.

So lucky

I am glad I was able to get out...but I don't think you guys are out of the woods yet.

They are now saying Sunday could be the worse of the three.

Cool photos and video, you are lucky you get to see it with snow!   Pretty darn cool

Another shift in that storm as well.  As of right now it appears to be heading south and should miss is entirely.  They're still watching it because like this storm, sometimes they move again in the near hours of impact.

Taken just a short while ago.  It's a little breezy out.  I was near some trees trying to compose some shots and was having trouble keeping it from being pushed in to the trees.  I do t want to go down that road again.  The next tree just gets cut down.

Throwing this in here because there's still snow on the ground and I did t want to make a new thread.

I wanted to go out and have Cassie rip around in the Maverick so I could fly the drone around and practice getting footage on a live, moving Target.  She wasn't having it so I decided to try active track by myself.  Super nerve racking as there are power lines and grade changes and trees but whatever.

Here is a short Profile test.  It didn't seem to really follow me from a profile stand point after just a short distance but it still followed me.  Then I got scared and tried to adjust on the fly and clear trees and lines.

Pretty cool. Maybe one day they can chase like automagically.

How does that work?  With these drones, they lock on visually to a subject.  Technically, it should be able to keep up to 35 mph or so.  There are different options for tracking like profile mode  in my video where it's supposed to stay to the side of you and follow you.  It can circle you while it tracks you.  It can follow you.  I have one for spot light mode I will post in few minutes where the drone hovers in place and just follows you with the camera.  The down side to these active tracks is it's pretty easy to lose your target.
