Title: New Tires
Post by: Kitzy on October 20, 2017, 05:58:38 PM
So I wanted to wait it out and get a proper smaller lift, wheels and tires but was forced to buy tires now.  They were pretty bad.  So I ended up cranking the torsion bars and running the stock wheels.  All said and done, I'm pretty happy with it.  Gained just about 2" up front.  Squeezed some 295/60/20s (34x11.5) on it.

Nice! I'd say those should allow you to climb that long driveway of yours in any kind of weather!

Looks nice.

Have you tried it with weight on the hitch or in the bed to see if it handles differently ?
- Or is that something that only comes into play very infrequently.

Awesome, Looking forward to hear your take on them. Pretty quiet for how aggressive the tread is eh?

Thanks guys.  I haven't had them on the highway yet but they seem very quiet.

Hey Ryan, you asked about the tires on Facebook.  I thought I'd elaborate a bit more here.  They did great.  I wasn't so impressed at first.  I could barely get up my road/driveway.  Traction control would shut me down immediately in 2wd.  I got tired of always putting it in 4wd to get up to the house so I shut down tractional control and stability control and just let it fly.  The truck felt very controlled and just went.  Cassie even mentioned today on the back snowy roads that it seemed more stable and confident.  So other than the 3mpg drop, I think they were a good purchase.

That's great. I agree that traction control hurts more than helps in some cases.

I think it's the nature of a AT, but it has to "spin" a bit to clean itself.

Glad to hear overall that you're happy with them. I'm gonna have a hard time going to a different tire next time around...or maybe I just need a second set of different tires/wheels again!  :redneck:

Tires are a weird thing.  Usually when buying stuff you look high and low to find the best available. With tires, I feel like I always want to try something new regardless of how happy I am with the outgoing tires.  I've never bought the same tires.  Maybe it's because by the time I need to buy new tires, manufacturers have released a new design and with a new design is the idea that it's improved.  You know... "New and improved".
